A vector space model, including latent semantic indexing (LSI), etc. relatively measures correlations of each target thing that represents in each vector. However, the vectors of each target thing in almost method of the vector space models are static. It is important to weight each element of each vector by a context. Recently, it is necessary to understand a certain thing by not reading one data but summarizing massive data. Therefore, the vectors in the vector space model create from data set corresponding to represent a certain thing. That is, we should create vectors for the vector space model dynamically corresponding to a context and data distribution. The features of our method are a dynamic calculation of each element of vectors in a vector space model corresponding to a context. Our method reduces a vector dimension corresponding to context by context-depending weighting. Therefore, We can measure correlation with low calculation cost corresponding to context because of dimension deduction.

As the development of hardware and software technology, fast increasing of peers or services has issued critical problems for the popularity of SOA. One is system scalability and robustness, and the other one is service location validation. In this paper, we introduce-SOBEX -a web service search engine which designs a distributed indexing structure SIKA, and proposes proactive web services reuse mechanism by introducing service context model SPOT. SIKA is a community-oriented virtual hierarchical distributed indexing structure based on classic Chord algorithm. Though it groups nodes into interest-based communities, it is completely distributed and without central management. Then it promises system search efficiency together with scalability and robustness. The growing number of web services available with an organization and on the web raises new problem: locating the desired web services. Generally keyword-based search has meet with high recall and low precision. In order to improve search efficiency, SOBEX proposes to qualify services using service usage context model, which tries to reduce the concept understanding gap between human and computer by proactively assigning the services with their own story background. On the other hand, besides traditional keyword-based methods, it introduces context-based queries to improve service reusability.

In order to determine appropriate relationships among information resources, it is important to develop a correlation computation method that depends on the hierarchical structure. Our method determines the correlation in vector space corresponding to the hierarchical structure by dynamic mapping operator creation; this mapping operator represents the hierarchical structure depending on the user's viewpoint by simple matrix computing. Furthermore, our method determines the correlations according to user's viewpoints by dynamic mapping operator creation on the basis of the hierarchical structure. It helps to obtain various information resources related to a query depending on the hierarchical structure and user's viewpoints.

In this paper, we propose a method for generating a metadata space of associations between words ... more In this paper, we propose a method for generating a metadata space of associations between words from an index of a book dealing with a specific field of interest. In order to implement a search mechanism using a mathematical model of meaning that deals with a specific field of interest, it is necessary to generate a search space called a metadata space dealing with the field of interest. In the past, the metadata space has been generated by using a terminology dictionary and a highly specialized knowledge base. Also, it is difficult to generate the metadata space if there is no terminology dictionary that deals with the field of interest. The proposed method does not require a terminology dictionary, and it allows the generation of the metadata space without a highly specialized knowledge base. Further, by applying this metadata space generation method to a mathematical model of meaning, a search mechanism based on the associations between words in the search target data, such as documents and media data, in the specific field of interest can be implemented. In this paper, taking examples from the IT field, the effectiveness of the method is verified by comparing the use of a metadata space generated from a terminology dictionary and the use of a metadata space generated from an index to search graphic media data. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We apply facial expression to represent the complicated and mixed emotions. This method can generate facial expression corresponding to impressions of music data by measurement of relationship between each basic emotion for facial expression and impressions extracted from music data. The feature of this method is a realization of an integration between music data and the facial expression that convey various emotions effectively. One of the important issues is a realization of communication media corresponding to human Kansei with less difficulty for a user. Facial expression can express complicated emotions with which various emotions are mixed. Assuming that an integration between existing mediadata and facial expression is possible, visualization corresponding to human Kansei with less difficulty realized for a user.

Various knowledge bases have been created by using collaborative editing environments such as Wiki in each field. Each knowledge base exists independently. On the other hand, an event affects various aspects of an area, field or community. Therefore, in today's global environment, it is important to transmit significant knowledge related to accidental or irregular events to actual users from various knowledge bases. In this paper, we propose a method for the extraction of related items across heterogeneous fields by interconnecting each knowledge base arranged on a knowledge grid.

The Kansei operator, which operates on metadata extracted from media data, performs mapping based on human sensitivity by applying a logarithmic function that reflects human sensitivity based on Fechner's law. The proposed method enables metadata that reflects human sensitivity to be extracted according to the Kansei operator for metadata that was obtained according to weighted word categories output by a conventional automatic metadata extraction method. In addition, using a semantic associative search method enables searching to be performed, which matches human intuition for the media data categories. In this paper, we combine the Kansei operator with an automatic metadata extraction method for music data to implement an automatic metadata extraction method having a Kansei operator for music data. In addition, they show the effectiveness of the proposed method experimentally. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
