In drawing from multiple theoretical frameworks (i.e., institutional theory, upper echelon theory, identity theory), we argue that functional, political, and social pressures are likely to positively influence an organization to adopt green management techniques. These relationships are thought to be moderated by the top management team's disposition toward environmentalism. Possible outcomes of these changed business practices include cost savings, increased competitive advantage, goodwill perceptions among consumers, and increased fan identification.

Participants (82 undergraduate students in the U.S.) took part in a 2 (coach sex) × 2 (player sex) experiment aimed at assessing their perceived appropriateness of the coach striking the player and their preferred consequences for that action. Hierarchical regression analysis provided support for a coach sex × player sex × participant attitudes toward women interaction in predicting the perceived appropriateness of the physical contact. Multinomial logistic regression then indicated that perceived appropriateness was inversely related to the severity of the preferred consequences for the coach. Results are discussed in terms of theoretical and practical implications.

The purpose of this study was to examine why racial minorities are over-represented in academic support positions, such as life skill coordinators and academic supervisors/advisors, but under-represented in other administrative staff and senior level positions. Through the use of a case study methodology, this study investigated this occurrence in one Division I athletic department. Seven senior level administrators and seven academic advisors participated in the study. Findings of the study revealed that both supply and demand forces were in effect. Racial minorities’ entry into academic support positions was found to be a result of them having a higher preference for these positions and a result of structural limitations on their options, such as the occurrence of discrimination, outcomes of hiring practices, and lack of career role models and social networks.

As such, the purpose of this study was to explore how the creation of discourses of masculinity and femininity undermine most women's access and acceptance into American football. Utilizing critical discourse analysis, an analysis of The Gender Bowl , a reality TV program featuring a full-contact football game between women and men, revealed how men sought to preserve the social relations of football and how women sought to contest this masculine domain in part by adopting typically masculine linguistic practices of insult. Results of the analysis revealed interdiscursivity of two discourses of gender relations: discourses of conservative gender relations iterated by the men, discourses of conflict from both men and women, and discourses of egalitarian gender relations iterated by the women.
