Update re: Lyrics Icon Challenge [Jun. 13th, 2005|12:36 am]Lord of the Rings Icon Challenge
[mood** |mellowmellow] [music** LAAA! (Ba da dummmm!)]We've only received four entries for the song lyrics challenge this week, so we're extending the deadline until Thursday (June 16). We don't often do that, but this week we think there are a couple of people who want to enter and haven't had time, so we're leaving it open a couple of extra days. Why Thursday? Because that's a day I may have more time to put up icons than on Tuesday or Wednesday, that's why. :)So, new deadline: Thursday, June 16, 2005, evening. Email us your icons or submit them in a screened entry to the challenge post.

Week 34: Lyrics Challenge [Jun. 3rd, 2005|06:34 pm]Lord of the Rings Icon Challenge
[mood** |cheerfulmmm, Baby Duck!] [music** So Close I Believe]_Iluvatar: LA LA!Ainur: LA LA!1_That's right, folks: tune up your instruments, 'cause it's time for another song lyrics challenge! Much like week 14 and week 20, this week's challenge is to make a Lord of the Rings icon incorporating the words from a song. We define "song" very broadly here: it can be one of the songs from Prof. Tolkien's books, Peter Jackson's movies, or even a completely non-LOTR song that just happens to strike you as being appropriate for the image you select. You may even use a poem that's not set to music, although it is kind of a song lyrics challenge.Edit to add: All we ask is that you tell us what song your lyrics are from. The mods may be omniscient ;) but we don't know everything. So we ask that you tell us, so we're not confused. (One decent place to find LOTR movie screencaps, by the way, is Lisa's Video Frame Captures (FrameCapLib.com). If you know of any others, feel free to let us or each other know. Google Image Search is often useful.)Also, to shake things up this week, you may submit up to two (2) icons instead of just one. That way, if you can't decide which of your ideas to submit, you can send two in and we'll get to see even more of our iconners' fantastic creative talent! Icons can be submitted to golden.wood (AT) gmail (DOT) com, or, if you prefer, as comments to this post. Comments will be screened so only you and the mods can see your entry. Please use the img src tag to show us your icon, and give us the URL too, as below:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v212/nenyaquende/eowyn-by-astro_kitten.jpgLyrics icon submissions will be open until 6 pm PST on Sunday, June 12, 2005 (that's next Sunday, not two days from now). Voting for last week's Shelob icons will be open for another hour or two tonight, and then I'll close the poll and put up winners. -------------------1) The Silmarillion in 1000 Words by camwyn

[mood** |stressedow! loud piano!] [music** little sister playing piano]Casting about for things we hadn't done yet, I realized that the spider fans among us have missed out. Therefore, this week we give you that evil arachnid herself, the terror in the pass of Cirith Ungol--Shelob!Four pictures to choose from. These are thumbnails (25% the regular size) that link to larger pictures. Thought I'd try that this time, for a change. **( ...three more behind the cut...Collapse )**Icon submissions (ETA: one icon per challenge per user) may be in any of the three file formats LiveJournal supports--.JPG, .GIF, or .PNG. They can be submitted in comments to this entry (comments will be screened) or as attachments to email sent to our Gmail account (golden.wood @ gmail DOT com). Submissions should contain the icon and a link to the icon so we can try to chase it down if it doesn't display. [mood** |annoyedowie! onions in eyes!] [music** unidentifiable classical music stuck in head]Some pretty close voting this week! Icon #6 wasn't viewable to some people this week; it might have got more votes if it had been. We're very sorry and don't know quite what happened. Still it got nine votes. Take a bow, undeadgoat! Week 32 Icon Challenge [May. 10th, 2005|04:50 am]Lord of the Rings Icon Challenge
[mood** |thoughtfulintrospective] [music** Loves Me Like A Rock (The Fighting Temptations soundtrack)]The man who started it all! In a hole in the ground there lived a Hobbit, and this week's challenge is the Hobbit himself: Bilbo Baggins of the Shire!(Three large images under the LJ cut.)**( My dear Bagginses and Boffins...Collapse )**Also a small informal poll: do you guys prefer to have multiple images to choose from when making icons, or just one? Can't remember if we asked you this before or not.Icons may be submitted to either our Gmail address (golden.wood @ gmail DOT com, please put "mallorn" or "golden wood" in the subject line) or in comments to this post (which will be screened so other people can't see them). Please give us both the icon and a URL where it can be found online, as shown below. This is especially important for those who choose to email their submissions, because sometimes attachments go astray.Example, more to show off a cute icon than because I think any of the regulars don't know the drill by now:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v212/nenyaquende/kitty-doom2-png.pngIcon submissions due 6 pm PST on Sunday, May 15, 2005.(Apologies for the lateness of this post.
