Halloween Tree
Materials:
gourd that can be a bowl shape when cut
white paint
black paint
Plaster of Paris
spooky branch, 2-3 feet in length
artificial spider webs
ornaments (see side tutorials)
Step 1: cut top off of a clean gourd to make an approximately 2" round hole.
Step 2: scrape seeds and debris from inside of gourd to make it fairly clean and dust-free. To reduce the amount of dust from a particularly dusty gourd, you may paint the inside white or black - optional.
Step 3: paint outside of gourd white.
Step 4: while waiting for gourd to dry, paint branch black. Allow to dry.
Step 5: when gourd is dry, add an ooky-spooky face to the front with black paint. Allow to dry. (include templates for skull faces?)
Step 6: Mix enough Plaster of Paris to fill the gourd halfway full, pour it into the gourd and secure in place until plaster dries and branch is fixed in place.
Step 7: decorate tree by stuffing some of the faux spiderwebs around the base of the tree and stringing some around the top. Decorate with Halloween ornaments (see side tutorials) or anything else you think would look gruesome.
