With the background of foreign concessions in Shanghai, as a result of the Treaty of Nanjing and ... more With the background of foreign concessions in Shanghai, as a result of the Treaty of Nanjing and subsequent treaties between China and Western powers, the Shanghai Stock Exchange (1904-1941) was established by foreign businessmen (mostly British) in Shanghai. This foreign Shanghai Stock Exchange symbolises Western capitalisation in China and deserves the attention of economic historians to investigate its function in semicolonial Shanghai. However, due to constraints in available archives and difficulties in utilising multilingual research materials, the history of the foreign Shanghai Stock Exchange has been untold. Among the inchoate existing literature on stock exchanges in Shanghai, literature in Chinese lays focus on Chinese stock exchanges while literature in English dismisses the foreign stock exchange from the broad context of financial capitalism in China reflected locally in Shanghai. This paper aims to bridge the scholarship between Chinese and English on this topic and put forward the future direction to dig into this important but missing piece of economic history.

Then it discusses the importance of the linkages between these three dimensions, and explains the causes of such missing linkages in Uganda's NTP. Finally it gives recommendations that deliberate efforts should be made to include the linkages between trade, climate change and food security in Uganda's NTP.

As a result of the Korean War ended in 1953, the two Koreas in the Peninsula have always been in tension together with their wartime allies China and the U.S.. To solve the security problems in this region, an Asian security system that may bring together all the direct participants of a confrontation or a dispute to the table of negotiations is proposed in this paper. It should be a system that joined by all potential stakeholders in Asian security issues, with obligations for certain members who are playing direct roles in a security problem to take part in negotiations, and other indirectly related members as voluntary observers. This is a lesson drawn from the historical failures of negotiations in Asia for its long-term peace and security. Still with foreseen difficulties to achieve it, this paper remains its value in offering implications for a more stable Asia by examining the current dominating power structure shaped by the U.S., China and their allies.
