Our Campaign Continues! **Dear friends and comrades,**Last week, the Khimki hostages, Maxim Solopov and Alexei Gaskarov, were released from police custody on their own recognizance by the Khimki municipal court.The fact that we secured their release is important, but it is still not a complete victory. We must redouble our efforts and continue our campaign because:* The criminal case against Alexei and Maxim has not been closed. If they are tried and convicted, they could face up to seven years in prison.* Prosecutors have now formally charged Alexei and Maxim (with disorderly conduct) and are demanding that the activists be returned to jail pending trial.* Prosecutors have now added other social activists to the list of possible defendants and suspects in their investigation of the July 28 demonstration in Khimki. If charged and convicted, these activists could also receive lengthy terms in prison.* The law enforcement officials responsible for the coercion and torture of witnesses during the course of the investigation have not yet been charged or punished for their actions.* In the recent past, there have been cases in Russia where an accused person has been released pending trial (the same procedure that led to the release of Maxim and Alexei last week) only to later wind up behind bars again with a hefty prison sentence. For example, the Siberian trade union activist Valentin Urusov was released on his own recognizance after an appellate court overturned his conviction (on a fabricated drugs possession charge) in May 2009, but in June of the same year the original lower court reaffirmed its verdict and sentenced him to six years in prison. A higher court later reduced this sentence only to five years.**Therefore, we must force the Russian authorities to drop all charges and close their criminal investigation.**As before, we call on you to join us in the struggle for Alexei and Maxim’s freedom. Will be a bison the main force of Sunland commune's economy?  First, some news from current Sinland's stationing in St.-Petersburg region. Using temporary absence of Sunland activists (who are forced to do bussines in the city to get money for the Sunland's development) unknown miscreants ruined our sheaf of poles already completely prepared for the covering with the teepee cover. They undertook this plunder only for the sake of long manila rope... But Sunland activist don't lose heart. Actually we are preparing expedition to scour neglected village for new Sunland settlement in the southern districts of Pskov region. The expedition will start within the next few weeks. The Sunland’s inspirer Dmitry Kremnev has been attracted by a TV broadcast topic which told about Estonian cattle farmer by the name of Hillar. Having sought new ways for profit, this man bought a dozen of bisons from the biggest bison farm in Europe which situated in Belgian Ardennes. Bisons were imported into Europe in the 1990s and their population here has now grown to some 2,500. The main benefit from bison breeding is conditioned by the fact that those animals can withstand both harsh winters and hot sunny summers and do not require shelter. They are content to graze on poor fodder in large open areas where they can give free rein to their agility and speed. Females can reproduce until the age of 20 or even more (giving birth every spring to a calf weighing around 25 kg). Males not needed for reproduction are slaughtered at around age two, when their weight averages some 450 kg. Of course, the costs for buying these rare animals will be rather high. But it seems that it would be compensated rather quickly. Having detailed business plan we could be well expect to take long-term bank credit. So, if someone from our friends is competent in this issue or he/she intends visit Belgium someway, we will be grateful for the advice and/or agency (which could be paid).P.S. The “Resurrection Plan“. A new hope for land and people.  As we wrote recently, because of some circumstances we have been forced to elaborate alternative plan for Sunland location and development. And now our new Resurrection Plan originated as a result of this elaboration. What is it? What we can to offer our supporters and sympathizers around the world? It's not a secret - in all cities in all countries there are large communities of anarchists, radical artists, ecologists, representatives of subcultures, and all those people who don't fit in with the normative rules of modern society. Searching the way out from stifling atmosphere of this tainted world they try to find some free spaces at least small and poor. So, if they achieve this they often resort to the practice of squatting. But their new Home is often threatened in the cases if some greedy rustlers have an eye on that place. Given this we modified the idea of squatting (though this modification occasioned by the actual situation in Russia). As a result of so called "democratic reforms" the terrible mass depopulation befell Russia. More of all it concerns Russian countryside. And now many villages in Russia stand absolutely deserted. For eg. 2.500 from 8.000 villages in Pskov region (N.-W. Russia) are uninhabited. For the outside observer, it seems like some kind of genocide and more over - destroying traditional forms of living. Also, our Resurrection Plan means that: 1) we must to find suitable empty villages, 2) go there to the reconnoiter, 3) select the most convenient place, 4) organize the first group settlers and volunteers, 5) legalize our eco-village with local authorities. Certainly, first of all we figure on the Russian anarchists, libertarians, radical ecologists, artists and all those Russian young people who eager to the spiritual renovation. But our foreign friends have to watch the cause. This horrible monster - THE STATE (damn it forever and ever, amen!) - is the same everywhere. Far and wide where the state stretches its paws the life becoming intolerable (note this case). The demonstration, during which several windows were broken, received a great deal of public attention. The authorities responded with a wave of repressions. This summer in Sunland commune!  So, Sunland project revives after a while. Many people advised us in due time that we had to buy some plot of land on the mainland to arrange experimental settlement, Sunland commune in testing regime. And now we can proudly say to all who are interested in Sunland project - Yes, we've done it! We became owners of 2 hectares (about 5 acres) in one of the most beautiful places of Nothern-West Russia - in the Luga's lakes area (it is about 130 km or 80 miles from Saint-Petersburg). We can set to work right now. Currently we already have the plan of development of the settlement. We plan to go in for farming. We plan to go in for farming to provide our commune total self-sufficiency. Some Russian Activist of the Sunland idea will go there in the next few days in order that start the practical work. Scarcity and exhaustion of natural resources, the threat of world war, global climate change - these and other risks make us look to the future with alarm. More and more people around the Globe realize that the only way to change things for the better is to change our world-view approaches, changing of our thinking. Motivated by the desire to contribute to new thinking of mankind, people of goodwill from every corner of the world have united around the Sunland idea. Relying on the natural right of people to be masters of their own fate, like all other nations, in their own sovereign State, WE, MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL OF AUTHORIZED PERSONS, REPRESENTATIVES OF SUNLAND COMMUNITY AND SUNLAND WORLDWIDE MOVEMENT, BY VIRTUE OF OUR NATURAL RIGHT AND ON THE STRENGTH OF INTERNATIONAL LEGAL ACTS (International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, Declaration on Principles of International Law, etc.), HEREBY DECLARE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A SOVEREIGN STATE - THE REPUBLIC OF SUNLAND ON THE TERRITORY OF PETER I ISLAND IN THE BELLINGSHAUSEN SEA IN ANTARCTIC. They were searching for new waters for whaling; rumors were that there should be a lot of whales in the ocean around this desolate and unknown island. Therefore, Lars Christensen, Norwegian ship-owner and whaling magnate was the organizer of that expedition. However, the Norwegian richman and killer of the whales lost his interest because of lack of whales in the surrounding waters. Then, within 80 years, Norway has failed to implement the development of the island and it is currently uninhabited. The island is situated at the other end of the Globe, many thousands miles off the coast of Norway.According to Article IV of the Antarctic Treaty: "No acts or activities taking place while the present Treaty is in force shall constitute a basis for asserting, supporting or denying a claim to territorial sovereignty in Antarctica or create any rights of sovereignty in Antarctica. No new claim, or enlargement of an existing claim, to territorial sovereignty in Antarctica shall be asserted while the present Treaty is in force". However, this treaty points to territorial claims of existing States, which are already recognized by the international community (as it indicated by the very meaning of the term "claim"). But we are creating a new nation. We fully support the principles of the Antarctic Treaty - freedom of scientific research and equitable international cooperation in Antarctica, the demilitarization of the Antarctic region and its use for peaceful purposes for the benefit of all mankind.The Republic of Sunland is based on the principles of freedom, justice and peace; it will ensure complete equality of social and political rights for everyone irrespective of religion, race or sex; it guarantees freedom of conscience, language, education and culture; and it will respect universally recognized norms of international law. We extend our hand to all states and their peoples in an offer of peace and good neighbourliness, and appeal to them to establish bonds of cooperation and mutual help with the Republic of Sunland. Some words about Sunland economics.  Sunland as one of the most ambitious projects of our time has many dimensions - spiritual, ethical, aesthetical and of course economic. It is about the Sunland economy we intend to say now at least briefly, although it should be clearly understood, that none of these aspects of Sunland community life can be separated from the others, all them fully linked. All values in the world are creating by human labor. And the most efficient labor is a free labor. It's logically, that even under the conditions of a current economic system, which is questioned by many people; such enterprises have shown themselves as the most effective form of business, where the worker cooperates freely with the other equal workers, where parasitism of managers and capital owners is wiped out. We’re talking about production cooperatives and farming cooperatives, and also about service cooperatives. We’ve already said in the context of Sunrise Plan adjustments about establishment of the agricultural communes. From an economic and partly from a legal point of view, these communes are the agricultural cooperatives. However, if we will see at thing from the normal townsman's position, we realize that break with the habitual way of life (even if a person lives in a constant frustration) is a very serious step and not everyone venture to do so. There is enough of skepticism. It’s time to start working!  Sunland project has been implementing for almost two months. There is not 100 days (the time that taken in politics for consideration of preliminary results) but something can be said right now. Our rule is never to hide the truth. We don’t inspire anyone with illusions. We don’t want to become victims of illusions. So, we can say that Sunland became interesting for many people and it has not been ignored. But those people who are really willing to actively participate in the project - such people are few and far between. Among the public which is debating Sunland online dominates skeptical, sometimes openly hostile, but more often mocking attitude. Why is it so? May be we’re doing something wrong? Maybe, but first of all, nobody hinders constructive criticism, conversely, we always greet it. Second, if you want to prevent yourself from any mistakes – just do nothing. Or, maybe, the very idea is bad? But, first, there are hundreds of communes around the world now which successfully operate base on the ideological and philosophical, moral, ethical or even religious grounds (from the anarchist communes to the mennonite communities). And secondly ... well, it is wiser to devote a special article concerning the reasons for such skepticism and consider this matter in broader context of Sunland’s philosophical and ethical foundations. At the first place at Sunland are ideas, principles and people. If it is so, then the material side of the life also will be. Sunland is a light, which is giving to people the hope and joy. “And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not…” (John 1:5). We are continuing working at the implementing of Sunrise Plan. As it already has been reported, the Sunland project activists decided that before establishing a colony on a desert island, it could be possible to make a colony on the mainland. Adjustments in the Sunrise plan.  Exactly a month ago we published a detailed plan of arrangement of free settlement on a desert island - the Sunrise plan. Although at the moment we have not yet received a response from the authorities of Pitcairn Island, anyway we are still going to press for their formal response to our proposals. As for Venezuela and Honduras - the work in progress, it's early to wait their response because suggestions just sent. Many people express their doubts that the authorities of any State would give us an Island to settlement arrangements for free. Many people say, "While you are waiting for government decisions Sunland project would completely fizzle out". Really, it's possible. In this regard there are some ideas about corrections of the Sunrise Plan.We could make an interim stage. To convince people that it works, we might arrange a kind of experimental ground. Namely, we might to acquire land in some country and arrange there the first Sunland commune. Certainly, there's a question of cost. At the moment, we have data on prices of land only regarding Russia. The lowest prices for land can be found in the Yaroslavl region: it starts from $ 15-25 per are (i.e. $ 600-1000 per acre). Thus, the minimum suitable for our purposes area in 10 hectares (about 25 acres) runs up to $ 25 000. We are ready to arrange the first Sunland commune in any part of the world and in any country. Therefore, if any of the Sunland supporters or sympathizers has information about lower land prices than the above ones - we would be very grateful for this. Why Sunland project is absolutely possible and why it has to be done?  Many people are constantly asking us: “How are you going to arrange proper living conditions and other facilities for the sunlanders? How are you going to organize Sunland’s economy?” Some people even express doubts in our fairness, while quite the contrary others reproach us in unrealism and keenness on empty fantasies. In this short article I shall try to prove that the Sunland project is a genuine project and more over its significance goes beyond the framework of an ordinary settlement in some obscure location. What we want to create on Sunland? If people think that we want to create some kind of village with customary middle-class conditions like in any American town, they are wrong.
