Little is known about the extent of PPI in emergency care research, its methodological and reporting quality. This scoping review aimed to establish the extent of PPI in emergency care research, identify PPI strategies and processes and assess the quality of reporting on PPI in emergency care research.MethodsKeyword searches of five databases (OVID MEDLINE, Elsevier EMBASE, EBSCO CINAHL, PsychInfo, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled trials); hand searches of 12 specialist journals and citation searches of the included journal articles were performed. A patient representative contributed to research design and co-authored this review.ResultsA total of 28 studies reporting PPI from the USA, Canada, UK, Australia and Ghana were included. The quality of reporting was variable, with only seven studies satisfying all Guidance for Reporting Involvement of Patients and the Public short form reporting criteria. None of the included studies adequately described all the key aspects of reporting the impact of PPI.ConclusionRelatively few emergency care studies comprehensively describe PPI. Opportunity exists to improve the consistency and quality of reporting of PPI in emergency care research. Further research is required to better understand the specific challenges for implementing PPI in emergency care research, and to determine whether emergency care researchers have adequate resources, education and funding to undertake and report involvement.

Health care is shifting from a reactive, towards a more person‐centric approach to improve health outcomes. To achieve quality improvements and efficiencies, health care organizations are forming inter‐organizational relationships. Despite the benefits, little is known about how organizations capture value from strategic partnership. In this context, this paper aims to examine the processes that occur as part of a public and non‐profit sector relationship within health care that directly relate to how the partnering organization acts to capture value. Using a qualitative case study of an Australian public‐sector health service partnership, the study employs a value mapping framework to distinguish between different types of value (captured, missed, destroyed, and opportunity), and presents an integrated model consisting of three process phases: (1) inter‐organizational cooperation effort, (2) organizational effect, and (3) social value. The study highlights the potential for negative and unintended consequences and discusses implications for management.

Already there is substantial evidence that links CSR with improved profitability and enhanced organisation reputation (Freeman & McVea, 2001). From an internal perspective, research indicates that employees' perceptions of CSR are linked to increased attractiveness as an employer, thus strengthening the bond between employees, organisations and their customers and increasing the likeliness of organisational citizenship

It was anticipated that corporate social responsibility campaigns, which communicate corporate good deeds, exert considerable positive influence on public opinion. Results supported this expectation. Corporate social responsibility campaigns enhanced people's perceptions of sponsors' image, reputation and credibility.
