Bruce's journal (original) (raw)

On the train home tonight from visiting Mark, Neil and Mel in Cambridge I had a profound and entertaining conversation with Footpad. I find his conversational company to be both pleasant and infuriating - he seems never to take a conversation where I attempt to lead it but instead chooses a rockier path than is ultimately more rewarding. He speaks with the wisdom of naiveté - his softly spoken thoughts have both a lightness and a depth.

Unfortunately, by one of those untidy quirks of probabilty, he was otherwise detained elsewhere in the world and unable to participate in person - which is a terrible shame. From reading a recent post in his journal I feel that he could have taken equal benefit from our talk. However, I thought I would post this just to let him know that, even in absentia, I am forever grateful for his illuminating perspective and gentle charm.
