Listens: The Postal Service 'The District Sleeps Alone Tonight'
Quick updates:
- Whenever I'm away from London for a while and return, I'm always amazed at how much I like the place. It's an intangible thing but it really does feel like home.
- Played 'Princes of the Renaissance' at the weekend - it's an interesting game, partially marred by a number of errors in the rules (something that's apparently quite typical for the publisher, Warfrog), but most of us got the tactics entirely wrong.
- I have a number of small holes in my forearm after yesterday's allergy evaluation. It confirmed various allergies I'd already established empirically - grass pollen, dust mites and cats - but notably showed that my reaction to most species other than cats is relatively mild. More importantly, the allergy specialist was of the opinion that my allergies should be perfectly manageable through use of antihistamines (24h in advance of exposure to an allergen) and by doubling up my inhaler use (48h in advance) - which is a vast improvement over my doctor's recommendation that I avoid cats completely.
- PockyBot is the most crack-smoking webcomic I've seen in quite some time (oh, and Ozy and Millie is finally off re-runs).
- My dentist confirmed that my gum is now properly healed after my wisdom tooth extraction - but that I need a filling in the opposing tooth.
- Picked up Rough Trade's 'Best of 2003' and the Zen retrospective and ended up with a HMV sampler CD as well. I'm listening to them at the moment.
- Oh, and I got a payrise on return to my job - even though I specifically asked not to receive one (but my bosses have agreed to review everyone else's salary to make them fairer, which is what I was after in the first place).
