_3:01 pm_[kitzen_kat] Parking Poor parking in public car parks is one of my pet peeves.*One* space per vehicle. Not driving in at an angle and taking up two spaces. And as for that bloke who drives around with an *empty* trailer behind his car, taking up two spaces at the busiest times in the shopping centre, he's lucky I haven't had time to have a word with him or to offer to undo his trailer since he obviously can't do that himself. Those people driving large 4WDs need to take more care when reversing. I want them to look in *all* their mirrors and over their shoulder, and don't assume that everything will get out of their way just because they're driving a large vehicle. As for the inconsiderate person who parked so close to my car when I was seven months pregnant so that I couldn't get the door open enough, there are no words to describe them. At that point I couldn't even clamber over the gear stick from the passenger's side.Grrrrr. (Comment on this)

_4:40 pm_[kitzen_kat] Old Time Grumpiness The Washington Post had a contest wherein participants were asked to tell the younger generation how much harder they had it "in the old days." Winners, runners-up, and honorable mentions are listed below.Second Runner-Up:In my day, we couldn't afford shoes, so we went barefoot. In winter, we had to wrap our feet with barbed wire for traction.First Runner-Up:In my day, we didn't have MTV or in-line skates, or any of that stuff. No, it was 45s and regular old metal-wheeled roller skates, and the 45s always skipped, so to get them to play right you'd weigh the needle down with something like quarters, which we never had because our allowances were way too small, so we'd use our skate keys instead and end up forgetting they were taped to the record player arm so that we couldn't adjust our skates, which didn't really matter because those crummy metal wheels would kill you if you hit a pebble anyway, and in those days roads had real pebbles on them, not like today. And the winner:In my day, we didn't have rocks. We had to go down to the creek and wash our clothes by beating them with our heads. ( More grumbles here.Collapse ) (2 Comments |Comment on this)

_9:05 pm_[kitzen_kat] The joys of shopping Why, oh why do shops think that putting vile music through the speakers in the store will make shoppers buy more? How does muzak in the elevators make someone suddenly eager to fork out $500 on a digital camera - unless there's some magic button on the camera that erases 'atmospheric' music in malls. The second rendition of 'Little Drummer Boy', surely one of the most revolting Christmas songs in history, was enough to make me leave one store emptyhanded. Carols sung badly by pop singers have the same effect - Mariah Carey, I'm looking at you. 'War is Over (Don't They Know It's Christmas)' does the same thing. If I find a radio station that plays that one, the the channel's quickly changed.Go on, share your least-loved shopping and musical experiences. Current Mood: irate (2 Comments |Comment on this)

_12:26 pm_[anicca_anicca] Hi to everyone here, the first four here are from Australia, Germany, Florida and Ontario, that makes for an interesting mix!Hi kitzen kat, thanks a lot for founding this community, I joined right away, this is where I belong...Not that it´s difficult for me to vent my anger in daily life - I´m a born smartarse to start with, then I´m German, and we never think twice before complaining about anything, plus I live in Berlin, arguably the city with the grumpiest people in the world. I gave myself licence to be as foul-tempered as i like years ago which really calmed me down in the long run. *shrugs*. I have no time for everybodys´ darlings, *snorts*, and i find it a relief that, being over forty and what with my looks not getting any better, (well, that sucks, actually), I grow more and more independent of other people´s appreciation. Grumpy old women pride rules! Current Mood: blank (4 Comments |Comment on this)
_5:07 am_[kitzen_kat] Drivers OK, I don't care what sort of vehicle people drive as long as they can drive it competently. This obviously doesn't include the twit of a woman who was driving an enormous 4WD in a small shopping centre car park, nearly side-swiping a truck and a small car, and then demonstrating that she was incapable of parking even with a 20 metre lead in. She then trundled off at the grand speed of 40 kph in a 60 zone, probably still trying to find fourt gear (which is undoubtedly hiding somewhere near reverse). There should be mandatory defensive driver training for those who buy a vehicle that is larger than a station wagon. I'm sick of having parking spaces taken up by poor parking, not to mention trying to miss 4WDs and vans that pull out of parking spaces without checking what's around them first.
