I know we've all moved on - but just a reminder that we can restart cycling LJ at https://gruppetto.dreamwidth.org if you all want! Maybe see some of you there.
Hello fellow Gruppetto members. However few of you there left. If you've logged into LJ, you've seen the new TOS. We do have another home, over Dreamwidth. Please feel free to join and maybe, on this safer platform, we can begin again.

What say you all?
Something's going on with LJ at the moment. We keep being spammed with posts all in Russian and a couple communities I follow have the same thing happening. Therefore I'm going to be putting membership on moderation for the time being.
To join, just request to join and then message myself or one of the other maintainers (see profile).
Sorry about this, guys!
A bit quiet after the TdF, it can all seem rather after the Lord Mayor's show and no mistaking. Anyway, here's the code for a Fantasy Vuelta league on Velogames: 22222228 should anybody wish to beat me once again.
Really should get round to posting some more of the Tour photos from Cambridge. Would you believe Tony Martin wheeled right up in front of us before the depart fictif, spending five bored minutes with the likes of me silently snapping away at him and the rest of the pack, like they were animals at the zoo. Honestly, I respect you Tony, I do, I just didn't show it well.

I know we haven't been having regular discussion posts but I'm at work and bored and this stage should be good and also I want to spam the comments with pictures of Tony Martin being happy (you have been warned)

Where is he? Oh, there he is. Poor Cav. Saw Gerrans finish more or less with the peloton, albeit at the back. They're tough those Aussies.
(Oh, for Bernie fans, he passes through quite close at 1:10.)
As for me, proud of my effort here. The tactic was to get there early (8am), claim a good position at the front of the pack, which I defended well with determination and elbows. The training I'd put in was rewarded too, all that standing around for hours on end at work doing nothing was the perfect preparation for the day. Of course natural ability comes into it also, and my iron bladder did not let me down. Altogether, couldn't be more pleased with how the race went for me.
Also, I should add, my teammate was reliable as ever, because she was the one who shot the video. I bodged with the still pictures that make up the following pic-spam.
( Jersey Presentation and stuffCollapse )
FYC has one that I'm "running" and so I figured I'd create one for Gruppetto. Here's are mini league number: 04124323
I can't give out prizes or anything, but feel free to play along!

Do we have a Gruppetto league set up yet for the Dauphiné?
Slick move.
Hi guys, this is the first time posting to the community, but as it was requested I shall share! Here are a few of my pictures from Stage 5 of the Women's Tour today. I've also included a few pics from the Women's Fleche Wallonne this year as I was in Belgium for Ardennes week - which had much better weather I have to say! At my journal, there are more pics from that trip, & if you go really want & go far enough back there're some pics from last years Tour in Paris, Giro in Naples & Tour of Britain! And later this year its the Tour in London & Paris (which will include a Women's race), along with the Tour of Britain so I'll try & get some more then!
( Stage 5 Women's Tour 2014Collapse )
( This way to the photos from Fleche Wallone Femmes 2014Collapse )
I'm afraid I've been terribly absent over the last few months as a mod and a member of this group but The Women's Tour has helped me fall back in love with cycling and so VERY last minute I've set up a gruppetto Fantasy League on Velogames.
You only have today to sign up your team but if you have a team ready then please do sign up to our little league as well! And if it's only me then that will teach me to be more organised before the Tour!
( Fantasy League detailsCollapse )
Good luck!
(oh and if any Brits in the group have managed to catch any of The Women's Tour please do share your pictures! The same goes for anyone who catches the Giro in Italy or Ireland!

Okay so this is new and a kind of light hearted/funny/nothing serious fic. I wanted to write something a little different to everyone else and came up with this but before the story starts, I feel it needed some sort of an intro (no riders included, just background info on the situation) to really understand things from the start. So here it is!
Title: Welcome To The Badass Society**!**
Rating: PG
Chapters: (In progress)
Characters/Pairings: *Current = (Alberto Contador/Andy Schleck - Alberto Contador/Rui Costa - Tom Boonen/Niki Terpstra - Tejay Van Garderen/Ryder Hejsedal - Tejay Van Garderen/Sylvain Chavanel - Moreno Moser/Peter Sagan - Ivan Basso/Vincenzo Nibali - Matti Breschel/Jakob Fuglsang) *Past= (Bradley Wiggins/Mark Cavendish - Tom Boonen/Fabian Cancellara - Fabian Cancellara/Tony Martin - Frank Schleck/Rui Costa)
Summary: A light-hearted take on the hierarchy of the professional peloton and their twisted alliances with one another.
Warning: Slash, Swearing etc.
Disclaimer: I don't own anything or anyone and this is not real! An extreamely fictional fic.
As some of you may know, me and a good friend own a site called Dancing On The Pedals.
We do race reports and take photos at every cycling race we're able to attend during the year, both road and track.
Mostly we go to Danish races (as we don't have that much money and traveling is expensive, haha) but besides the Tour of Denmark, we made it to the Tour de France, Tour of Norway, Tour of Turkey and 6 Days races in both Berlin and Amsterdam.
I thought I might share a small selection of our 2013 season with you guys, as I think you might (hopefully) enjoy it. If you do, you should go like Dancing On The Pedals on Facebook *cough* shameless plug *cough* and feel free to share the site around to anyone you know who might be interested :)
( Lots of photos under hereCollapse )

With the GC guys all saving their energy for the next three days, this was a perfect day for a breakaway breakout. 10 riders from 10 different teas kept ahead of the main groupo all day. But it was the youngest guy neopro Warren Barguil who took a fine win; stealing a march on his other 9 older companions. Rinaldo Noncentini came in 2nd, with Baulke Mollema in 3rd. The main peleoton came in 2.43 mins behind, with all the leading contenders on the same time. Nibali remains in red, and looked much better on the podium without the super large, wasp sting hiding, sunglasses.
Can't give you any up[dates today, as the site doesn't seem to have updated properly. I'll wait until the end of Stage 14, and hopefully it will have sorted itself out.
Hold onto your hats though, we are heading up up up tomorrow for Stage 14, and it's forecast to be horrid weather.
