Hi everyone! [Jun. 13th, 2007|01:29 am]Staff from GSCNC camps
Previous Entry Flag Next EntryI'm on a missing camp kick right now, since I saw a lot of old camp friends (I'm a CMF girl) at "Still Singing After All These Years" this past weekend, and found this community - I can't tell you how awesome I think this is and only wish I had found it while I was still working there! I guess I'd better get down to business, introducing myself:camp name: Altoid (Rerun as a JC, but I am better known after my name change as the former), and variations include: Altie, LT, The Toid, etc.camper: pre- 2000 - day camp at Winona and Bay Breeze every summer, eventually working as an AIT, then AID2000 - 2 weeks at CMF: Off Broadway at Windy Hill (the current equivalent being Summer Stock, I think)2001 - 1 week at CMF: Art Medley at Spotswood2002 - 2 weeks at CMF: Challengers at Sinewa (they changed the name from Rocks & Ropes to this for only a year, which I always thought was weird)2003 - JC at CMF, known as Rerun (yes, I'm still so embarrassed about the name change)staff: at CMF, of course...2004 - unit counselor2005 - program counselorfavorite girl scout songs:while I was at camp, I was known by campers and counselors alike as being annoyingly all-too-familiar with a vast number of girl scout songs. this past semester, I wrote a 13 page paper on girl scout songs. I think it would be a bit cruel to make me choose, but I'll highlight a few anyway:dewey (it's just so cute!)my highland goatrosesardinesmagiclingerif you'll be MINE minechestermoose songviolachicago fire songand I could go on... really, I have a new favorite the next time I get one stuck in my head. but I wouldn't have it any other way.things i love about camp:number one, all of the people I've gotten to meet over the years. every friendship has been a treasure I'll keep with me for the rest of my life, and I hope I will always find some way to keep in touch with them and get back to CMF, I love it so much.having learned how to start a fire with a single match: MY GREATEST TRIUMPH!being able to act like a fool, singing at the top of my lungs, and have it be perfectly normal and also encouragedthe fourth of july at CMF (it was why I came back as a camper)the spirit squadharrisonburg, bridgewater, and staunton and all of the delights they have to offerbeing able to have a sing-off with CPW counselors in the parking lot of Backstreet Videocampfireshikes, especially to eagle rock and kettle rockreddish knob, despite the precarious drive and couples making outall-camps and all of the crazy themes we come up withTHE CAMPERS, no matter how crazy they arecookout luncheskitchen raidsChristmas in Julycavingrock climbingStone Lodgeit being HOME to meEVERYTHING, especially since I'm probably missing something big and it IS 2 in the morning... I am so grateful to have known such a place and her people. ♥ Zed From: suncamp2007-06-22 09:39 pm (UTC) Got Fired? (Link) How did you get fired from Camp May Flather?= Sunshine from Potomac Woods Haha, NO WAY would I ever be adventurous enough to do something to get me fired from CMF - I love it way too much! No, I go to college 500 miles away from home, so I figured the least I could do for my parents during the remaining summers I have is to work closer to home. It is only deep affection for my padres that keeps me away! ALTOID!! i lived with Elfie in Sinewa for two weeks this summer. she's ALMOST as crazy as you!
