I currently have the spare pennies to hook myself up with some new modeling toys and I thought it might be a good idea to pick one up. I got the MG Turn-A today and I'm documenting each step with off the hip pictures to show how it works on the outside. It's a very odd kit where some bits don't seem to fit (I'm looking at you missle vents) but suddenly you try it again and it fits perfectly, with no hint of the reason). It's 359 pieces (estimating) and has no inner skeleton, but lots of tiny bits all over the chest which are a nightmare to clean..Either way under the cut are pics from the chest being complete to the head going on, when it's fully done I'll take some good shots of it posed various ways. I'm currently debating if I should go with inks of each colour to panel line ( I got a new set of Vallejo inks for it) or just do everything in a nice black/black-blue blend mix (to lighten the harsh black)I should warn they are poor quality, they were off the hip as I have the modeling bug and I have to force myself to put down the knife and pick up the camera.( I has a cow!Collapse ) (3 comments | comment on this) Friday, August 17th, 2007 3:10 pm - Long time no see.. whitecrane I've "finished" the deathscythe custom on my week holiday after so many months delay. I was either out of the appropriate paint or thinners or missing the pieces - which towards the end I'm missing a piece of the peg that holds the wings together.Here is the main suit that I have finished putting together. I'll try to ink the panel lines over the weekend or something. I'm thinking of inking the black with red and grey with the white.The way I painted it, it resembles Mazinger rather than deathscythe :Pyeah. i didn't rotate the pictures. Busy working on the sd strike noir and prepping a 1/44 zeta c1. (comment on this) Thursday, May 24th, 2007 12:22 pm - Providence.. can you beat it ? whitecrane I was going to post my photos of the Providence Gundam that I did a while back before I moved, but I discovered that the photos weren't centered, out of focus and the posing was bad.This was the best picture out of the lot.I'll need to find a day to redo the photos again. (4 comments | comment on this) Tuesday, May 15th, 2007 12:51 pm bucue Anyone got any thoughts on homemade decals? I'm looking at doing a Rengou Vs ZAFT 2 Plus Chaos Gundam colour scheme. The difference is the navy blue becomes a jade green and the orange colour is made a richer crimson red type colour. But the problem is it has decals on which would take hours to free hand and would be a bitch to get accurate on a 144 Chaos.So anyone got any ideas on how to work a home made decal or am I either using a stencil (which will run) or trying to freehand white? The main reason is that instead of buying paint, I got my self a GM Striker...http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN948082I couldn't help it. Imagine my plight. Me between two shelves, one with paint and the other with the GM striker and others. I closed my ears and I heard the GM Striker call out to me. So, I popped open one of the older MG kits I had lying around, the GM. It's based on the old RX78 1.0 frame, and has the same seam line problems, but I love the BEECRAFT rendition on it (it's not overtly different like the other BEECRAFT redesigns).
