Okay, I got to thinking about this, when I watched an HP-vid, which just happened to feature Snape reaching out for Harry while he's hidden by the invisibility cloak - which got me to thinking continuity.
Aren't we told in Deathly Hallows that the invisibility cloak is undetectable?
How the heck, then, do both Lucius (in Hagrid's hut) and Snape (on more than one occasion, I seem to remember?) sense someones presence under the cloak? Snape, apparently, even with such accuracy, he would've found Harry if he hadn't backed up.

Overall, I guess I was pleased with the book. Not thrilled, but I enjoyed it. And after a few days of letting it float around in my head, I think a few of the things that bothered me are due to the fact that the books have mainly been from Harry's point of view, and Rowling would have been hard pressed to give greater emphasis to events that may have been tragic, but not as important to Harry specifically. So the following are forgiven even though I'd love to see more!
For instance, Andromeda Tonks has to be absolutely miserable after DH. Her daughter dies after giving birth to her first grandchild (who will remind her every day of what she's lost even if he is a blessing of sorts), her daughter's husband is dead, so she'll have to raise the baby, and her very own husband (Ted) is dead. The rest of her family suck. Bellatrix dies (not that she was worth much as a sister), Sirius (and her parents and Regulus) is dead, and the Malfoy's are a pathetic bunch. Actually, I think it would be interesting to see if the Malfoy's change at all, at least for Andy's sake! I think that Rowling suggests that they change only a little, a lessening of pride perhaps. I think that's what the mention of the receding hairline and the accentuated pointy chin remark is for, it makes Malfoy seem less haughty, even though he doesn't do much in the epilogue. Plus, I was really curious who Malfoy married and I don't think Rowling said. It's weird how badly I want to know that.
I can't even begin to address my heartbreak over the two Snape chapters- Elder Wand and The Prince's Tale. I thought they were so incredibly sad. The man has a terrible childhood, an awful time at school, a sucky job (and sucky second secret job as Deatheater spy), a questionable "friendship" with Dumbledore the Manipulator; and after all that shite he dies. That blows, really hard. And I hate it, because I can't decide if I should be angrier at Snape or at the people in his life who never helped him become something different. And I keep coming back to blaming Snape because he at least had Lily to show him how he should be. Argh, couldn't Rowling throw him a bone? But I guess that would make him less complex than he is dead, so there's nothing to do for it; and plus he was a Plot Device, and there's no sacraficing those.
I'll jump on the bandwagon labeled "epilogue hate." I felt like it was a bad fanfiction with the overabundance of children (I had to keep going back and rereading to keep them straight, I hate children) and the really complete randomness of it. 19 years? Too much, when the book ends right after the battle, and there hasn't been any kind of resolution to the many many loose ends hanging everywhere.
This post sounds fairly angry so I'll temper it with a few things I truly liked. I liked that Harry didn't have a "Horcrux Hunting Plan" and that there was a lot of stress over that. I feel as though that was realistic, they were three teenagers on the run, when they're used to being comfortable, and don't have any help when they're terrified of failure. And I think that Ron being Pissed Off when he doesn't get to eat was my favorite "in-character" moment in the whole book. It's the small things that get under your skin, right?
I admit that I laugh at Rowling's humor. So a few chuckles amid the angst and frustration was a nice reprieve.

I've read in several places that JK changed her mind on which characters were going to die at the end of Deathly Hallows - have we heard yet which ones?
(Apparently she revealed it in an interview somewhere.)

I was feeling so Ginny-deprived after DH that my fanfic muse, who has been comatose since Season 2 of "Alias," decided that I simply HAD to write a "fill in the blanks" fanfic about DH from Ginny's point of view. It would not be denied. Since I haven't been a part of the HP fandom, I don't have the slightest idea where to go to post said fanfic. Anybody know some good places to post/submit to? I'd be most grateful for the info!

We’ve all finished the book, in record time, I might add J , and we just aren’t ready for it to be over. If any of you RP types would like to participate in a post DH, Next Generation RPG,
might be a good place to check out! Characters from Harry’s generation are available as well as their children, so come on down and pick one of the dozens of Weasleys or one of the Potters, or even make up your own next gen. character! Thanks for your time, we hope you apply!

For those wanting to know about what the Trio did after they graduated. according to JK Harry and Ron revolutionised the Auror department and Hermione's high up in the department of magical law enforcement.
it's nice they all work together. she also said she had that in the first draft of the epilogue but it didn't work

I went back and re-read everything from the moments the kids enter Hogwarts again. I don't know how I missed it the first time, but snapes last words were "look at me"* to Harry, all he wanted was to see Lily's eyes one last time. ah I cryed when I re-read that.
I suggest re-reading it, when your not so scared about who's going to live and die and how will it all end, there are so many small moments you can take your time with. Like Harry say I'm sorry to Lupin, or Neville's old man face as he's caring in the dead. Or the humor in Ms. Tawny the throwing her crystal balls. I still am not happy about how quickly the story ends after Riddle is defeated, but the epilogue was much better when you already know the ending is abrupt. I like that in the epilogue James has his namesakes personality.
I agree it would have been nice to see Tonk and Lupin's death scence and more of a conclusion. Did people hear what harry was saying to Riddle, did they hear him clear up snapes name? One assumes the world eventually knows because why would the hero of wizzerdom name his secound child after snape, still. I want to know what happens to Rita Skitter, she caused so much harm over the series. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a wizard equivalent to plagiarism and she was barred from ever writing aging because of it.
Still my favorite line in the book is a toss up between Mrs. Wesley's "Not my daughter bitch"* and Snapes retort of "now or would like a few moments to compose your epitaph"*

I was chatting with some friends about the deaths in book 7, and I got to thinking...
The ministry was weeding Muggleborns out of society and out of Hogwarts, right? How was Colin Creevey at Hogwarts for the battle? He shouldn't have been there as a student, being Muggleborn, as he was being discriminated against. He can't even Apparate yet, much less onto the Hogwarts grounds. (See there? I'm channeling Hermione).
So, does anyone remember something I don't about Colin? Or was he somehow back at Hogwarts? Didn't strike me as easy to convince Umbridge and her lot that you had a magical relative if you really didn't. Any ideas?
