It argues that in revealing the divine name to Israel God makes himself vulnerable to loss of reputation and honor by allowing a sinful people to bear his name and makes Israel vulnerable by placing that name upon her. This mutual vulnerability is epitomized in Christ, and Christians are called to participate in it by the Spirit.
