Biography:
San Francisco, owned by P. W. Hodges of California, was a foal of 1903, his sire being Zombro, his dam Oniska. During his career at the stud, San Francisco sired 351 Standard performers and the dams of 367. It was one of his daughters who produced Volomite. In 1945 San Francisco was the leading sire of 2:00 performers and at that time was the only sire of 100 or more 2:10 performers at both gaits. San Francisco died at Walnut Hall in 1934.
