I was curious if anyone else here has checked out A&E's new series Paranormal State? I've watched a couple of episodes and I can say I'm not too impressed. They at least are somewhat professional in demeanor but they have not presented any evidence to back up experiences, even thing caught on the networks equipment. It mainly focuses on the groups leader while everyone else seems to be a blurry montage of just other people. The way he handles things is rather religious and any sense of credibility, at least with me, went out the window when Lorraine Warren got called in. What are other's thoughts on this? I would like to see more shows focusing on the paranormal, but the best we've got is Ghost Hunters and I'd rather seem more shows along that line then cheap frights and waving crosses around.

Are there any Gettin' Spooky fans here? There was a message from Yvygny in their forum that he'd talked Big Cheddar into doing another ghosthunt before Halloween, so keep an eye an their site for a new video.

According to Dustin's blog on myspace, the TAPS team will be doing a LIVE ghosthunt Halloween night..this is what he says:
There will be a live Ghost Hunters episode from the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado on October 31st, Halloween night. This will be a 6 hour live episode starting at 11pm Eastern Standard time. This episode will also be interactive. The viewer can log onto Scifi.com/ghosthunters and tell the TAPS team where to investigate in the Stanley Hotel. You will also be able to let the team know if you have spotted anything paranormal while watching the episode, live.

That's just awesome. I'm glad I don't have big plans :D
I miss Dustin :( He did film a few episodes though, he said, so I'll be watching for him.

Is anyone watching tonight? What did you think of that EVP??

Hey..I just wanted to remind you guys that you don't have to post personal ghost stories, just any that you found spooky or interesting. This community needs life!
I've been pretty busy lately and haven't been keeping up, but I'm going to make a few posts tonight..I hope you guys will do the same!

I own this community and its new so I'm trying to promo as much as possible. Sorry if this isnt allowed, please erase if not and excuse my drunkeness. Also heres an icon I made (I'm using it now, and you can steal it if you wanna). That is all.

Check out the "orb" floating directly over my pillow in this pic...

This is a documentary that's supposed to be coming on SciFi (or maybe it has?) it looks pretty scary..it says June 7th...I dunno if it was last June or the coming June..but you can purchase the DVD now.

This is another one of my personal stories posted on Castle of Spirits (and shadowlands too) again, i didn't title it..and can't rightly remember what title i gave it, but this is what it was named when it was posted.
Here's the link. http://castleofspirits.com/stories02/runcircles.html
it's attached to the other story I posted the other night.

MY HAUNTED HOUSE

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am going to apologize first thing because my story is pretty detailed, which makes it long.
Secondly, I want to say that I personally am no stranger to the unexplained and whatnot, and neither is the majority of my family.

It seems like every time we move somewhere, the place is haunted. No matter if it’s a new building or not. You would think that ghosties don’t bother me anymore after all the things I’ve seen, heard and heard about, but they do. They scare the hell outta me!

The other story I have on this site is “The Ghost That Ran in Circles”, one of my grandmothers many stories. Between my family, my friends who have actually witnessed our spirits and myself, there are enough separate tales to fill this site for quite a while. Though my story may not spook you or send chills running down your spine, it scared me a lot afterwards. And yes I am again living in the house in the story. More stories to come at a later date!

I was 20 back in 1999 when I first moved to Mississippi to live with my dad, step mom and stepsister to go to school there. The house that we lived in wasn’t really all that old; it was built from start to finish by my step mom’s dad.

The first week I was there, I stayed in the living room and slept on the couch because we had to go and get a new bed for me, so I spent very little time in my room mainly because I was procrastinating unpacking all of my boxes and making the room look like a room so I just decided to do it when we got the bed.

Well, that day came, my bed was picked out, delivered and set up and I began the hideous task of unpacking and hanging things etc. About four hours after I began, I finally got everything almost exactly where I wanted it, all except for this mini closet that was on the side of my larger closet, I had some stuffed animals I wanted to throw in there, but I was decidedly tired (it was around 1.30 am) so I just took a shower, turned on my stereo for the light and sound it provided (I’m just the tiniest bit scared of total darkness and total silence because sometimes I see and hear things I don’t want to when its like that) and crawled into my new bed. I fell asleep almost immediately, after a week of sleeping on a couch this was a much-needed change!

Anyway, at some point I felt like my bed was shaking, I was half asleep and thought I was dreaming so I just ignored it. Then I realized that it wasn’t my bed shaking, it was my BODY shaking. That really freaked me out; I thought I was having a spasm of some sort. Then it just stopped once I was totally awake and just lying there. I opened my eyes and looked to my left then to my right and I saw what looked like a woman standing by my right side. Thinking it was my step mom, I mumbled something like I’m ok, I was just dreaming I think. I closed my eyes again and the shaking started again, almost immediately. I looked again and the woman was still standing there, I couldn’t see her face, just a dark outline as she was standing directly in front of my stereo which was the only source of light at that moment. All of a sudden it hit me that SHE was the one shaking me, and that it wasn’t my step mom because surely she would have said something at that point.

I was petrified. Out of nowhere, the woman started making weird motions with her hands and trying to come closer to me. Then she started talking (I don’t know if I actually heard this or if it was in my mind) and almost pleading with me to help her because she couldn’t breathe and she needed her air mask. When I heard her I jumped to a standing position on my bed and pulled the light cord on my fan, and she was just gone. It was weird, I don’t know if she went with the light or if she was gone when I jumped up. And since I could no longer see her, I of course chalked the whole thing up to being a dream, a really weird realistic dream.

I turned out my light and lay back down. I also noticed as I lay there that I could now hear my stereo whereas I couldn’t before. Either that or I just didn’t notice.

The next afternoon, my stepsister and I went shopping for clothes and when we came back we went into my room to talk and goof around. (I had not mentioned what had happened to anyone, I didn’t want people I barely knew to think me daft!) I remembered that I wanted to throw my animals in that little closet so I opened the door, and to my surprise I found some wigs and shoes and an assortment of other things. I started putting them in an empty box to make room for my stuff, when I came across an oxygen mask. I almost fell to the floor. I asked my sister what it was for and she kinda shrugged…”it was my grandmas, she died in here. That’s why they wouldn’t let you sleep in the bed that was in here before.”

I thought she was playing a trick or something on me, but when I realized that she wasn’t, I told her what had happened the night before. She didn’t act at all surprised either and told me that a lot of weird things happen in that house and that my experience was minor compared to the other things that I would surely see and hear. I was like great; I thought I was moving into an un-haunted house for once. But I was wrong and she wa s definitely right. Thanks for reading.

I came across this a few days ago, and it freaked me out..

You can click the link for pics of the box, but I'm reposting the story from ebay here.

Here's an excerpt from the original description of the box by the first seller, nw-net-trade.

All of the events that I am about to set forth in this listing are accurate and may be verified by the winning bidder with the copies of hospital records and sworn affidavits that I am including as part of the sale of the cabinet. The winning bidder will also be able to contact most of the persons mentioned herein for the purposes of verification, corroboration, and to gain insight into the full scope of whatever it is. During September of 2001, I attended an estate sale in Portland Oregon. The items liquidated at this sale were from the estate of a woman who had passed away at the age of 103. A grand-daughter of the woman told me that her grandmother had been born in Poland where she grew up, married, raised a family, and lived until she was sent to a nazi concentration camp during World War II. She was the only member of her family who survived the camp. Her parents, brothers, a sister, husband, and two sons and a daughter were all killed. She survived the camp by escaping with some other prisoners and somehow making her way to Spain where she lived until the end of the war. I was told that she acquired the small wine cabinet listed here in Spain and it was one of only three items that she brought with her when she immigrated to the United States. The other two items were a steamer trunk, and a sewing box.

I purchased the wine cabinet, along with the sewing box and some other furniture at the estate sale. After the sale, I was approached by the woman's granddaughter who said, I see you got the dibbuk box. She was referring to the wine cabinet. I asked her what a dibbuk box was, and she told me that when she was growing up, her grandmother always kept the wine cabinet in her sewing room. It was always shut, and set in a place that was out of reach. The grandmother always called it the dibbuk box. When the girl asked her grandmother what was inside, her grandmother spit three times through her fingers said, A dibbuk, and keselim. The grandmother went on to tell the girl that the wine cabinet was never, ever, to be opened.

The granddaughter told me that her grandmother had asked that the box be buried with her. However, as such a request was contrary to the rules of an orthodox Jewish burial, the grandmothers request had not been honored.

I asked the granddaughter what a dibbuk, and keselim were, but she did not know. I asked if she would like to open it with me. She did not want to open it, as her grandmother had been very emphatic and serious when she instructed her not to do so, and, regardless of the reason, she wanted to honor her grandmothers request.

I finally ended up offering to let her keep what seemed to me to be a sentimental keepsake. At that point, she was very insistent and said, No, no you bought it!

I explained that I didnt want my money back, and that it would make me feel better to do what I thought was an act of kindness. She then became somewhat upset. Looking back now, the way she became upset was just plain odd. She raised her voice to me and said, You bought it! You made a deal!

When I tried to speak, she yelled, We don't want it! She began to cry, asked me to leave, and quickly walked away. I wrote the whole episode off to the stress and grief she must have been experiencing. I took my purchases and politely left.

At the time when I bought the cabinet, I owned a small furniture refinishing business. I took the cabinet to my store, and put it in my basement workshop where I intended to refinish it and give it as a gift to my Mother. I didn't think anything more about it. I opened my shop for the day and went to run some errands leaving the young woman who did sales for me in charge.

After about a half-hour, I got a call on my cell phone. The call was from my salesperson. She was absolutely hysterical and screaming that someone was in my workshop breaking glass and swearing. Furthermore, the intruder had locked the iron security gates and the emergency exit and she couldn't get out. As I told her to call the police, my cell phone battery went dead.

Spooky things seem to happen to people who get their hands on this box. It takes a little time to read it, but it's a good read. If anyone reads it, let me know what you think!

The number 9 most haunted house in America according to Haunted America Tours is..Hull House

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Hull House was constructed by Charles J. Hull at Halsted and Polk Streets in 1856 at a time when this was one of the most fashionable sections of the city. After the Chicago Fire of 1871. In the 1880's, Hull House was surrounded by factories and tenement houses and soon after, became one of the most famous places in Chicago.

A black and white infrared picture taken at Hull House in downtown Chicago, Illinois by Dale Kaczmarek in November of 1980. This is enlarged blowup of the interior staircase of this most haunted house in Chicago. There was nothing visible to the naked eye when the photograph was taken but what appears are four distinct shadowy monk-like figures standing on the bottom four or five steps. The one directly in the middle appears to be dressed in monk's habit with his two hands together in prayer. There are two other figures to the left of the center monk and one to the right superimposed on the banister which apparently ( has no head!Collapse )

Hi I'm Hidden, I thought I'd just drop by and give my intro. :) I love all things haunted and ghostly.

The closest I've ever come with anything 'spirit and ghostly' would be at my work ironicly. Being a multi-million dollar building and government property which was five months behind schd. they started having construction crews work at night.

Well story goes back when our building was being finished one of the workers was helping set up the lift one night around 10pm, and something happened. A power surge or something of that nature that kicked through and set the elevator in motion. He was on the ground floor setting up the wiring and such for it (Some say he might have accidently done it himself crossing wires...) and the elevator started to come down right on top of him. No one noticed. Seeing the lift lower from the second to the first floor people assumed he'd done his job. Around 11 everyone kicked off for the night since they knew they'd have to be up there at 9am.

It was that next morning they discovered what had happened to the worker. The school hushed it up, making up some story about not putting phone lines in certin rooms of the school and kept it closed for another two months after the building was finished.

Now the building closes at 9:30pm and having the job I have I don't get out of there till a few minutes or so after 10. But everytime I've rode the elevator to the different floors around ten it seems darker and more malevelant, like a heavy presence there. (During the day I take the same elevator up to my classes in the same building) but at night I've grown accustom to taking the stairs. I've made up the excuse I don't want to get stuck in it if it breaks down since there's only ten of us in the entire building after 9:30.

Most of the time I would pawn this off on my over active imagination and natural reflex as a writer but everyone once and awhile I'll see the elevator start and lower from the second floor. First few times I've expected to see my coworker in it when the doors open but no one was there.

In reality it's probably nothing. Just my imagination hyped up by the works of Barker and King.

Boo! I'm Kath from Idaho and I found this pic that was made for this community.

I've posted this before on my own LJ and in Hauntings, but here's my only personal ghost experience. It's not really scary unless you're freaked out by hearing phantom footsteps in broad daylight.

When I was in my mid-20s, back in the early-to-mid 1980s, I lived in a haunted house for a few years. My only personal experience was as follows:

The house was an older farmhouse in the north part of Kitsap County, Washington. I shared it with three other roommates at that time. It had been a dairy farm, and the owner (who built the house) had died. I'm not sure if he did so in the house. His wife was still alive at the time, living in a nearby nursing home. They were actually the grandparents of one of my roommates, as I found out after he'd come to live there.

Anyway, after I'd been there for a couple of years or so, I happened to get up one Saturday morning at around 9:30AM. First thing I did was head across the hall to the bathroom to take a leak. I glanced out the window to see if any of my roomies' cars were there, with the idea of seeing if anyone was home in order to plan what to do for the day. Everyone's car was gone, and I noticed the cat walking across the yard, so I was alone in the house. While peeing I heard these old man's slow footsteps walking up the stairs, walking down the hall, making the floorboards squeak. The footsteps stopped just outside the bathroom door! (mind you, all of my roommates were around the same age as I was, and would go charging up and down the stairs like young people do. These definitely sounded like the steps of a tired old man.)

I wasn't at all scared. I figured it was just my roommate's grandfather and he had to pee too, so I shouted "I'm in here right now, Grandpa, but I'll be done in a sec!" I didn't hear anything else after that. Afterwards I walked all through the house and outside to confirm that no one else was there.

Not very scary, but that's my only ghost story. I heard other reports later from one of my other roomates who also heard the mysterious footsteps when no one was there. She once heard them come down the stairs to the basement when she was doing laundry. The stairs were open, it being an unfinished basement, so she could see that no one was there, yet the steps continued all the way down the stairs. She freaked and bolted out of the other door to the outside, jumped in her car, and just drove around for hours until she figured someone else would be home. Smiley

Taken from Castle of Spirits

I have had many experiences with the paranormal throughout my life. I will tell you about the one that scared me the most.
It happened in a house that I had a lot of other bad experiences in. I've never done research on the history of the house nor do I care to. But here's one incident that scared me almost half to death!

My family moved down to Arkansas when I was about 7 yrs. old. The house we lived in when we first moved there was a bit old. I had complained to my parents several times throughout the years of how I felt there was SOMETHING in the house that was trying to harm me. They eventually got tired of it and converted the porch into two bedrooms for my brother, sister and I. My brother got his own bedroom and my sister and I had to share. Since there wasn't much room, we got bunk beds and I got the top bunk with my sister being on the bottom bunk (yes I had sibling order issues).
Anyways, a short time after the new bedrooms were made my brother got a job working 3rd Shift. He was 5 years older than me and my sister was 6 years older than me.

One day I was awoken by the sound of my name being called. I looked at the clock and it said 3a.m. I heard the voice again calling my name. It was my brother's voice coming from outside our window. He was telling me to go open the door for him. I was still half asleep and so I was like, "why don't you just open it yourself?" The voice replied, "because I forgot my keys and now I can't open the door." I made a movement to get up, but then a thought crossed my mind. My brother worked 3rd shift so he was still supposed to be at work. So I asked him "aren't you supposed to still be at work?" The voice replied, "yeah, but they let us out early. And now I can't get in because I forgot my keys. Now just come open the door for me." I was sitting up in bed at this point and then another thought crossed my mind. Wait, if he forgot his keys how'd he drive his truck home? So of course I asked my brother that question. I sat in bed waiting for a reply. It was about a minute and still nothing. So I asked the question again. Still nothing. I got mad at this point because it was really early in the morning and I wasn't in the mood for one of my brother's annoying jokes. I hopped out of the top bunk and walked to the window (which wasn't hard since its 2 steps away from the bed). I pulled back the curtains getting ready to just yell at my brother, but there was no one there! I looked to either side and didn't see him. No car in the front of the house either. Now, the time I waited for a reply would have given my brother time to run around the corner of the house towards the backyard, but not without me hearing and that doesn't explain why his car wasn't in the front! There was no way that he could have gone out through the metal gate without it screeching and started his car all without me hearing it! Suddenly, a cold chill ran up my spine and I was like, no way could that have been my brother calling my name. I quickly closed the curtains and turned around contemplating waking my sister up. It was no use, she's a heavy sleeper and wouldn't wake up if a gun went off next to her ear. So I bolted back up to my bunk and covered my face with the blanket til morning.

The next day after I got home from school, I asked my brother what time he had came home. He looked at me with that attitude look of his and said "7 in the morning like I usually do. Why?" I told him I was just curious and asked if any of his friends would have paid him a visit early this morning at around 3. He said no. At this point he had a worried look on his face. I knew if I told him then he wouldn't believe me. He would and did later on, but that's another story. The only person I told that day about this was my sister. And the next night, at exactly 3 in the morning I heard my name being called again. This time it was my sister's voice. It started off sort of slow and teasing like. It said it in that tone about 3 times. Then after a few seconds of silence it started again this time it was repeating my name fast! Sort of like when someone is excited and screaming out your name to get your attention quick. I was annoyed at this point and grabbed my pillow and was leaning over the side of the bed ready to smack my sister with it for trying to be funny and scare me. But I was frozen when I saw her still asleep with her eyes shut tight. Then I heard the voice say my name one more time this time slowly and sinister sounding. It wasn't my sister because she was right there and I was looking at her and her mouth didn't move! It was coming from outside the window! I dropped the pillow on the floor and got my butt under my covers so fast that I had a head rush. I stayed there under the covers until daylight broke through the room.

Like I said before, I've had many experiences in that house and never really had the guts to do a history on the house. I've moved since then. Far, far away from that house. I'm not sure if the present owners have any issues with it, but I sure hope they don't have kids at least. I wouldn't want a kid to go through what I went through in that house.

Taken From Castle of Spirits

This story happened on a cold mid-autumn day somewhere in the mid-western states.

Two gentlemen were working in the town's small general store. The store was quiet and no customers were shopping until she walked in. A small frail woman dressed in grey entered the store, and proceeded toward the dairy section, saying nothing. She picked up a glass container of milk and, without paying for it or even glancing at the gentlemen, walked out of the store.

The men, surprised by the woman's thievery, hurried out of the store after her...but she was gone.

A few days later, the incident occurred again.

The same small woman dressed in the same grey dress entered the store, grabbed a glass container of milk, and left without paying. Again the men tried to follow after her, but found her nowhere to be seen.

After a few weeks, the woman appeared once again.

The same small woman, dressed in the same grey dress, entered the store, paid no attention to the men, snatched a glass container of milk, and vanished out the door. The men, slightly more prepared this time, quickly followed the woman out of the store. She hurried down the town's main street and the men found themselves having to run to keep up with her. She hastily turned down a dirt path, just at the edge of the woods. This is where the men lost her.
They trekked on further and came to a small cemetery neither of them knew existed. Suddenly, they heard a small noise. Concentrating, they identified it as a baby's cry...it was coming from the ground. The ground from which it was coming from was in front of a gravestone marking the death of a mother and her infant who were buried together. Unsure of what else to do. the men quickly found shovels and exhumed the coffin. The crying became louder as they dug. When they reached the coffin, they pried off the lid and inside found the small, grey-dressed woman...dead...with a live, crying infant in her arms...and three empty glass containers of milk. The poor child was mistakenly buried alive and the spirit of her deceased mother kept her alive until she was found.
