1.0. SUMMARY DETAILS for 2024
- The 63rd Head of the Yarra - an 8 km time- trial from the Melbourne CBD to Hawthorn.
- Race start is 9.00 AM Saturday 23rd November 2024 (Fourth Saturday in November).
- Date for Entries Open is Thursday April 4th -to book your crew places. However crew listings will not be required until October.
- Date for Entries Close is Monday 14th October at 0900, 6 weeks prior race day, or earlier if the cap has been reached. ENTRY CONDITIONS
- When cap is reached we will accept entries onto a waiting list, but in the past, very few crews have withdrawn.
- Australian Crew entry is via ROWING MANAGER.
- INTERNATIONAL ENTRIES: Utilise Google Form below with email to Liz Ballan- Regatta Operations Manager. Email Liz@rowingvictoria.asn.au
- Google Form for International entries.
- 2024 Seat Fee is $72
- 2024 Entry Cap - 300, exclusively 8-oared crews.
- The entire 2024 event will be broadcast live via HOTYTV enabling all clubs to set up remote live-sites at their own clubhouses for social engagement activities and to cheer on their representative crews on race day.
1.1. RACE ORDER 2024
Racing over 4 brackets starting at 9.00 AM . The Schools have been allocated the first bracket to facilitate early departure after racing and to reduce heat risk.The older masters are in the second bracket, again to reduce heat risk, then younger masters and then club / open. 1.2. ACCOMMODATION
Options with Mantra and Quest city properties, the Amora Riverwalk (opposite race-finish at Hawthorn) and Quest Apartment in Jolimont . These 2 hotels are conveniently located with the 48 and 75 route trams connecting guests to the start and finish areas - ACCOMODATION.
1.3. TRAILER PARKING
Competitors are encouraged to park boat trailers in the city at the start of the regatta. Parking at race finish in Creswick St in Hawthorn is now fully booked.Options and rules for parking are covered
1.4. Race Broadcast
A webcast trial conducted in 2023, has provided us with the confidence to promote that in 2024 the full day’s racing will be broadcast live and free on this website via HOTY TV. Competitors can watch the race on their devices. Additionally, all competing clubs are invited to host remote club social activities in their boathouses utilising the race stream as the backdrop to cheer-on their representative crews.

1.7. Para-Rowing
This year’s event will again include a Para Eight event. Athletes wishing to complete in this year’s Para Eight event must hold a Rowing Australia Provisional or National Class-action classification.
