This is such a great idea for a community, really. I can't believe there aren't more members!
So here's great books I've been reading, and will hopefully inspire you :)
♥ Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy. This is literally 366 days worth of finding inspiration, finding your Authentic Self. Every month it has ideas for "joyful simplicities" and "creative excursions" to nurture yourself. It teaches the importance of living in the moment, giving ourselves an hour of solitude, creating a "Gratitude Journal" and a "Comfort Drawer". I think ANY woman (especially) will find this book heartwarming and inspirational.
♥ Profiles in Wisdom: Native Elders Speak About the Earth. "If you haven't yet encountered the richness and diversity of the Native American wisdom traditions, read this book - it will open your eyes, and your heart as well. In their own words, seventeen native elders from throught the Americas, from Peru to Canda, generously share collective Earth wisdom gleaned over the millennia. How desperately we need these teachings now!" - Stephan Bodian, editor of Yoga Journal
Here's some books I've been wanting for healing purposes:
♥ Wicca: A Guide for Solitary Practitioner
♥ Beautiful Necessity: The Art and Meaning of Women's Altars
♥ Romancing the Ordinary
♥ The Lost Soul Companion
Anymore recommendations? Also!
I am creating a list of 101 Ways To Create Happiness with body image and self esteem issues especially in mind. I only have 36. Anyone wanna help?
Thank you xx

BIE treatment for allergies Has anyone here with an allergy or intolerance ever tried the therapy called Bioenergetic Intolerance Elimination (BIE)?
See this site for info: http://www.inht.ca/
Apparently there are quite a few holistic allergists in Canada who practice this, and I'm thinking of trying it for my nut allergy. Would love some feedback from anyone who has tried it.

Does anyone know which healing stones are best for each chakra? Should stones based on their colour be used in chakra balancing?
Also, which stones (or other charms/herbs/oils/rituals/etc.) are best for specifically solar plexus/anger issues?

as moderator of this community i feel i should post something.
i've been sort of away from LJ for a while, more often than I usually am. So I'm sorry I haven't been around to moderate/maintain. Looks like there haven't been too many posts anyway, but that's okay with me. Just so long as we keep the positive healing spirit alive.
I met Tori Amos on Saturday and that was soooooo uplifting and inspirational to me!
I thought I'd try posting another topic/question that perhaps you would all like to respond to in the upcoming week. Just make a post here answering the question (don't do it as a reply to this post, make a new post)...
Tell a story of a particular healing experience that was profound for you.
I will post mine later. Now.... go!

Your work is you, nothing more this is a poem by Pedro Salinas... I found it uplifting.
Wake up. Day calls you
to your life: your duty.
And to live, nothing more.
Root it out of the glum
night and the darkness
that covered your body
for which light waited
on tiptoe in the dawn.
Stand up, affirm the straight
simple will to be
a pure slender virgin.
Test your body's metal.
Cold, heat? Your blood
will tell against the snow,
or behind the window.
The colour
in your cheeks will tell.
And look at people. Rest
doing no more than adding
your perfection to another
day. Your task
is to carry your life high,
and play with it, hurl it
like a voice to the clouds
so it may retrieve the light
already gone from us.
That is your fate: to live.
Do nothing.
Your work is you, nothing more.
~ Pedro Salinas ~

purpose... I wanted to just post a little on the purpose of this community. I really want to keep this place going.
I find that I often can't handle a lot of online support communities because I find so much content triggering. When I am in a healthy, stable place, I do like to be there to help others.
But I also find some communities (on bipolar disorder, and abuse and sexual trauma) cause me personally to wallow.
I also was recently a member of a bipolar community at another site & there was so much negativity and toxicity there! arguments would crop up... it just got ridiculous at times.
That's why I wanted to create a positive and uplifting and encouraging community here.
I hope we all start posting more soon. I'll reiterate my question from last week--what inspires you in your healing journey?
(I noticed a lot of you are posting friends-only here... that's perfectly fine. post friends-only if you're only comfortable with the community seeing it. But feel free to post publicly, too. There's no rules or restrictions on that.)
xoxox Sending you ALL hugs and kind wishes and bright blessings.
ALSO--if you're feeling down and want others to give you uplifting inspiring messages, this is the place to post that, too. Just ask for what you need. xoxox

Tori Amos is one of my biggest inspirations.
What she has survived and what she's made of her life and what she's done for women survivors of sexual violence is just incredible.
I could go on and on about Tori... I'm so crazy about her and her music & so excited to see her live at the end of this month! yay.
lyrics from one of her very early songs that has always moved me ...
"excuse me but can i be you for a while
my dog won't bite if you sit real still
i've got the antichrist in the kitchen yelling at me again
yeah i can hear him
saved again by the garbage truck
i got something to say you know but nothing comes
yes i know what you think of me
you never shut up
yeah i can hear that
but what if i'm a mermaid
in these jeans of his with her name still on it
hey but i don't care cause sometimes
i said sometimes i hear my voice
and it's been here
silent all these years"

Introduction Hi, I'm new. I saw this comm advertised over at bloodmoonherbs, took a look, and thought it looked like a great place. So here I am.
( About Me [potentially upsetting content]Collapse )
All things considered, I think I'm surviving pretty well and working toward healing. More than anything, I believe in healing the spirit because the body can never truly be well if the spirit is not. So that's where I focus most of my healing energy.
Hope that's an okay into. Hi, everyone. :-)

oh yeah! I forgot to add!
When you answer the question of the week, make a separate post! That way, they'll all show up on everybody else's friends page.

Question of the week I'm going to start asking a "question of the week" to generate some discussion in this community.
Let's start with something easy ... share something that inspires you. Just pick one thing. Be creative; include a picture if you want; if it's a song, share the lyrics ... etc.
I'll post mine later. :)

October is domestic violence awareness month Well, guidingangels reminded me that October is domestic violence awareness month.
For me, this is especially meaningful this year, since I myself have recently left a violent relationship. Leaving is not easy.
Anyway, guidingangels runs Guiding Angels Ministries (not a necessarily religious organization; I was thrown off at first by the name, but her services are for everybody). Visit the myspace page for her organization and make a donation. They run a domestic violence shelter in New York.
Actually, this is a good time to broach a topic of discussion...
Does activism play a role in healing for you?
I know that for me, I've tried sometimes to get TOO involved in activism, especially activism against rape and sexual violence. Sometimes it hits too close to home.
But sometimes just donating to a worthwhile organization makes me feel better.
Trying to reach out to others who've survived similar things is really helpful to me.
But there's a fine line between reaching out and being positive. ... and doing too much, to where we end up overextending ourselves.

First Entry Hi... I'm Jess and I started this community. You can read the user info for specifics. I want this community to be a positive space for people to get to know one another and provide inspiration for one another to enact healing of various sorts.
Let the posting begin... if nobody goes first, then I'll go. Tomorrow. :)
