Yesterday, I posted about my intention to stay with LJ instead of following parts of fandom to other journal sites. Now that I've made that decision, I need to make a commitment to actually being here. I came to LJ for the HP fandom, but since the fandom is going to change post-DH, it's time for me to change my role here at LJ.

Real Life is going to prevent me from ever being here daily, but I certainly could be more involved than I am now. In order to be more involved, I need to stop spreading myself so thin. While I like the communities I watch, I'm going to cut myself from all but the ones I absolutely love.

Cutting people is even more difficult (and awkward), but I'd really like to

know

a few people instead of just being connected to a lot of people via my friends page. I'll be cutting people who don't update or comment, unless I know them pretty well or communicate with them using methods other than LJ.

This is also an open invitation to defriend me without guilt if you want. If you decide to defriend me this weekend and leave a comment here explaining why (which will be screened), there will be no hard feelings.

I won't be leaving LJ.

It's a shame so many from my flist are moving on, but I'm going to stay behind. I doubt I'll go somewhere else any time soon. I like it here, and I really don't have any interests that will get me into trouble. Besides, the grass is not always greener on the other side, and I don't see the point of me creating another journal when one place really isn't any different than the other. I can barely handle my LJ flist, so taking on another journal is out of the question. It's possible I could change my mind eventually, but I doubt that will happen.

The people who leave LJ for good will be missed, but I've made my decision.

Has anyone read Stardust by Neil Gaiman? I've been seeing previews for the movie, and it looks good. Amazingly, I haven't read anything by Neil Gaiman, yet, so I don't know what to expect.

If you are trying to stay spoiler free, I recommend you get off the internet now! There are real and fake spoilers being posted all over the place. Filtering communities and setting your comments to friends only may not be enough. Anytime you click to comment on someone else's journal or read the comments in another journal, there's a chance you could read something. People are posting anonymous comments in random journal entries, so you may click on something you think is harmless and get more than you bargained for. I don't mind being spoiled, but I know so many people do. Be careful. Constant Vigilance!!!

I'm going to be offline through the holiday season. In addition to work, I'm doing some volunteering, baking lots and lots of cookie trays for my friends and family, and spending time with my loved ones. I'll be back if anything big happens or if there's more information about Book 7. Take care.

Thank you to everyone who commented to this post. I really wanted to get up to date on what's going on with everyone, and that helped.

Life's going well with me. The "beau" that several of you asked about is just my friend right now. We've decided to keep it that way and see what happens. Work and social life has been keeping me the good kind of busy, and I am at a really good place in my life right now.

I'm very content.

Daniel, the Webmaster at TheQuidditchPitch.net, sent me an email apologizing for the mistake and explained that he was unaware of what his researcher had done. He immediately put up a link to my original essay. Yay!

I was willing to give the website the benefit of the doubt and thought that maybe someone else had seen the same pattern I had seen and made the same prediction. If that was the case, I would've been really happy and thought it was so cool. I love discovering that other people have the same theories I do. That's why I worship angua9, connielane, daveydee_2, kadh, mrs_bombadil, and avada_86. Not only did they have similar ideas as I did, they expressed them much better than I ever could. I want people to see the same things in shipping that I do. I respect people who can figure things out like that.

Unfortunately, when I read the link that was sent to me, I discovered that the people at the website just ripped off my 7 Stages essay. That I can't respect. They didn't copy it verbatim, but it's pretty close. In fact, I think they probably pulled some of it from the original I posted at Cosforums because it drips with my brand of snark and my way of phrasing things. I edited it a little before putting it on LJ. The basic idea is the same, but a few words were changed to make it "different". They didn't even try to expand on my idea or come up with something new. Just rephrased.

WHATEVER!!!

I don't know if I should be pissed, flattered, or amused by it.

(I don't have the old Cosforum threads from before the big purge so I don't have the original. Do any of you?)

Bridge to Terabithia, Katherine Paterson

This is one of the most beautiful stories I have read in a very long time. I just finished it a few minutes ago, and I'm bursting to recommend it to everyone I know. I hope that everyone will one day give themselves the opportunity to experience it. It's a Newberry winner, easy to read, and only takes an hour and a half to read from cover to cover.

Do yourself a favor and reserve a few hours out of your busy life to read it. You won't be sorry.
