IMDbPro Discover is an advanced search tool that allows members to find people and projects based on a variety of key IMDb data, experience, and expertise. It also includes advanced features to customize, export, and share lists. IMDbPro Discover is only available on desktop site.

Keywords provide you with the ability to search for any text or content within IMDb. Based on your specific needs, you can use any keywords. For example:
- Keywords in IMDb bio - searches within a person’s biography. You can search for "Where did the person grow up?" with keywords like "Los Angeles", or "What was their breakthrough? " like "Severance".
- Job title keywords - searches within a person’s job title. Examples are CEO, CFO, CMO, Partner, President, etc.
- Plot keywords - searches within all plot keywords associated with a title. Examples are Polynesia, husband-wife relationship, air-to-surface missile, ancient civilization, bar fight, blockbuster, etc.
- Role/Credit keywords - searches within a person's credit. Examples are choreographer, intimacy coordinator, craft services, dog handler, etc.
- Filming location keywords lets you find titles that filmed in specific places. You can search for cities like "Barcelona" or "Cape Town," countries like “Japan" or "New Zealand," or even points of interest like "The Louvre" or "Mojave Desert."
How can I save my filter selections?
Once you have selected your desired filters, click on theSave filters button below the filter options. To save your specific filter set, confirm the "Filter name", and click Save.
To access your saved filters, you can click on the Your saved filters link at the top of the search filter options.
How can I clear my filter selections?
While on IMDbPro Discover, there are two places where you can clear your filter selections. You can locate the Clear all filters link at the top of the page (just above the results display), or also the Clear all filters button below the filter options (left panel).
How is the "Relevance" sort determined?
"Relevance" uses multiple data points such as profession, popularity, top professions associated with a person, and many more to provide you with the best results.
How can I reorder items in my list?
Go to Your lists and select the list you would like to update. Click on "Manage", select "Reorder list" from the drop-down, and you will be able to manually reorder your list by numerical order.
Note: By default, your list is sorted by last added.
What do the "Professional experience" search options do?
The Professional experience search options help you find people based on their credited profession and professional affiliations:
- Onscreen talent, filmmakers, and crew based on their profession, role (credited role), and number of credits released in a year range.
- Executives and assistants based on their profession and job title.
- Reps (agents, managers, legal, and publicists) based on their profession and client count.
- Professional affiliations to find individuals based on guild, union, or association eligibility.
To get started, you can select a profession, and based on that profession, you will get refined filters. For example:
- Actor - You will find the option to filter by minimum number of released credits and release year range.
- Director - You will find the option to filter by role/credit the director had in the title, minimum number of released credits, and release year range.
- Executive - You will find the option to search people based on job titles such as CEO, Head of TV, etc.
- Talent Agent - You will see the option to find people based on how many clients they have.
What do the "Credit details" search options do?
The Credit details search options help you find people based on their released titles.
The filter options include:

The Discover algorithm uses the year range and number of credits you specified in the "Professional experience" search option to determine the year range and number of titles to match with your selection in the credit details search option.
For example, if you selected Actor with minimum five credits between 2015 to 2020 and a budget of >50MM, the selection will include people who have at least five credits released between 2015 and 2020 in which they were actorand at least five credits released between 2015 and 2020 with a budget of >50MM.
What do the "Personal details" search options do?
The Personal details search option exposes filters such as:
- Age-playing range
- Birthplace
- Biography
- Physical attributes
- Employment details
- Skills
- Gender / Gender Identity
- Race, Ethnicity, & Nationality
- Disabilities
- Sexual orientation
- and more
This allows you to narrow your search to create a custom list of individuals based on their profiles.
The self-verified asterisk in the Personal Details section refers to information that has been added by entertainment industry professionals to their claimed IMDbPro page.
What does the "Company details" search option do?
The Company details search options are available for professions such as:
- Executives
- Assistant
- Talent Agent
- Manager
- Legal
- Publicist
It helps you find people who are employed in the companies you chose.
What does the "Collaborations" search option do?
The Collaborations search option finds people who all worked on multiple projects (up to 3). It can help you find people who frequently collaborate or have shared experience on the same kinds of projects.

The Awards & film festivals search options allows filtering for people based on whether they were recognized at an event, including Awards Ceremonies and Film Festivals.

- Wins Only/Wins and Nominations

How can I add people from the Discover People card to a List?
You can add one person to your active list by clicking on the Add to list button on the card.
You can also add one or more people at a time by selecting the checkbox next to the person and then using the bulk add to list (blue button) feature at the top of the Discover People page just above the results display.
How can I improve my discoverability in the Discover People tool?
You can improve discoverability by keeping your profile up to date.
We recommend to make sure you add all your credits (including Role), Representation information, Images (Primary and featured images), Known For, Demo reel videos, Company information, awards and film festivals, etc.
What do the "Title Details" search options do?
The Title Details search options help you find titles based on aspects directly related to the title.
Filter types include:
- Title Type (movie, TV, etc.)
- Genre (Action, Adventure, etc.)
- MOVIEmeter Range
- Title name
- Filming location
- Country of origin
- Languages in title
- Motion Picture Association (MPA) rating

The Attachments & Credits search options are useful for finding titles based on whether people, companies, or professions are attached or credited. This can be helpful for finding titles that might still be hiring, or to research titles that required specific people or skills. For example, if you are a casting director you can use the search options to find titles that are optioned and have no attached casting director.
