16 January 2006 - hh_reading_room (original) (raw)

A few people have asked me to move the dates back to allow them more time to read, so I've updated the schedule. This one is a little more definite. I'd like to keep these dates if it's possible.

February 1 I Capture the Castle, Dodie Smith

February 18 The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Mark Haddon

March 7 Pride & Prejudice, Jane Austen

March 28 To Say Nothing of the Dog, Connie Willis (Optional supplemental reading, Three Men in a Boat, Jerome K. Jerome)

Other books I have planned for discussion:

The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown

Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, Susanna Clarke

Watership Down, Richard Adams

A Wrinkle in Time, Madeleine L'Engle

The Catcher in the Rye, J.D. Salinger

To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee

Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea, Anne of the Island, Anne of Windy Poplars, Anne of Ingleside, Rainbow Valley, Rilla of Ingleside, L.M. Montgomery

If you would like to suggest a book for discussion, please do it in the comments of this post. I'd like to keep the books discussed in this community to those that are on my Flist Recommended Reading List, written by the same authors, or supplemental to the books we are already reading. Please keep that in mind when making suggestions. I'll try to be as flexible as possible and meet everyone's needs the best that I can. Thanks!
