How are the roads? [Dec. 21st, 2008|09:15 pm]The Happenings of Hillsboro, Oregon
Hey, Hillsboro-folks! Greetings from Bethany! Did anyone get out today? I'm looking for a road report for Evergreen/Cornell between 185th and the airport -- anyone able to update me? Thanks! We didn't even try to leave home today, but we need to get out tomorrow, and we're trying to figure out whether to head West to Hillsboro, or East to Cedar Mill and Portland. Thanks! And stay warm!

Whoo! A Hillsboro community! Greetings, inhabitants of the Tualatin Valley!I lived in good ol' 97123 for my first 13 years on earth. (I moved around a lot after that, and now, at age 29, I'm in Dallas, Texas. No Douglas Fir trees, a summer day over 100° is "normal", it doesn't rain at all in winter, and, during the festive season, they ship Christmas trees down here in frozen boxes from Washington. Nobody here knows what a "Tuality" is; I doubt they could even pronounce it. Sad thing, really.) The Debate Begins: Burgerville chocolate milkshakes have a banana aftertaste. True, or very true? (Surely I'm not the only one that notices it...?)

Need moving help! [Jul. 25th, 2007|01:18 pm]The Happenings of Hillsboro, Oregon
Me and my fiance are moving to Beaverton tomorrow and we need help unloading our UHaul. We can unload most of it ourselves but we have a few fairly heavy things that I cannot help him move - an electric piano, a futon frame, a couple couches and a wood armoire.Anyway, would anyone be willing to come out for about an hour and help us move stuff into our apartment? We are thinking around 5-6pm. We really just need one kinda big/strong guy for about an hour. The apartments we are staying at are called Willow Grove and they are about two blocks from a Max stop though I am new to the area and I'm not really sure which stop it is!We will pay you $50. :)

Too old to be a rock star? [Jul. 16th, 2007|07:28 pm]The Happenings of Hillsboro, Oregon
[Current Music |Rock (Creedence, Beatles, etc)]Looking to put the band back together, but everybody's gone away. Haven't played in a band for many years. Got the perfect name for the band now, though: GEEZER. Serious, I'd like to put a band together, maybe do some of that online recording type stuff (don't know much about it at this point, but I'm going to learn). I'm local, and I play rhythm guitar (so-so), so if you play lead guitar, bass, or drums, or keyboards, and you're in the over 50 crowd and interested in just having some fun & making some noise (location to be determined), leave me a note. No drugs or alcohol, please.in hoc

New residents... [Jul. 10th, 2007|06:13 am]The Happenings of Hillsboro, Oregon
My fiance and I are moving to the Portland area in about two weeks from Washington State. As a result, I am hoping for some information from you kind people. We are looking for a reasonably-priced 2 bedroom apartment in Hillsboro/Beaverton/Aloha as close to the Max Station as possible. Anyone know of some good places? What about bad places we should stay away from?I would look on Craigslist but I don't know how to tell if something is close to the Max station. Any tips? Also, we are really apprehensive about the whole mass transit situation in general. For example, when the Portland transit site lists a route number how do we know if its a bus, a streetcar or the max? Thanks so much in advance!(cross-posted to relevant communities)

REVIVIAL!! [Apr. 22nd, 2007|11:25 am]The Happenings of Hillsboro, Oregon
[Current Location |Hillsboro, Like, DUH.]Okay, so going though my old account, skitosimsfreak, I notice this community. I had totally forgotten about it, but here we go, I'm revamping it. I've added all of the available Hillsboro Public Schools to the schools list, to make us easier to find. I updated the interests slightly, and I fixed some minor spelling errors on the profile. Let's get this show on the road, again!
