Associate Professor of French Literature. PhD in 2003, Docent/Hab in 2015, Lund University.

Research interests are the French nineteenth-century novel (e.g. Stendhal, Balzac, Flaubert) the role and function of literature, the translation and reception of nineteenth-century French literature in Scandinavia, the role of emotions in literature teaching, space/place in literature.

2016-2021 active within the research programme Cosmopolitan and Vernacular Dynamics in World Literatures” (worldlit.se), where I have been coeditor of two anthologies, the last one under publication by Bloomsbury: Literature and the Making of the World: Cosmopolitan Texts, Vernacular Practices (https://www.bloomsbury.com/uk/literature-and-the-making-of-the-world-9781501374159). My chapter treats images of Paris in novels by Balzac and Flaubert. The role of place in literature is one research interest, for instance cities. I have also published studies on the translation and reception of French literature in Sweden in the nineteenth century, the "bovarysm" of Jules de Gaultier, endings in Balzac and mimetic desire in the novels of Stendhal and Balzac.

Completed peer review commitments within several areas: translation, reception, didactics, children's literature, rhetoric of emotion, Proust, S. de Beauvoir, Sand, Stendhal (for French Studies, OUP), Zola.

In the scientific committee of the journals Revue Stendhal (Presses Sorbonne Nouvelle) and Moderna Språk (responsible for section of French literature)
