dealgodown | 06:08 pmHey New memebers, have you seen any shows recently? Or juat have anything about hipster music to comment on in general?I saw the Vermont All-State Jazz Band perform last month. It was an excellent show. They played some classic jazz tunes with great riffs and awesome solos. Sadly their concert had to be cut short due to time constraints, but the lick they played from their funk tune was awesome. A really great performance. The VT All-State Jazz Band is known throughout the state for its excellent concerts. |

dealgodown | 10:46 am - BadfishI recently went to a Badfish concert at the Higher Ground in Burlington, Vermont. The show was excellent. There were two opening bands, Suspect and Zox, both of whom played great sets. And then Badfish came on. It was an amazing show. Badfish is a Sublime tribute band (named after a Sublime song) and although I'd never heard them before I like Sublime a lot and I could sing all the songs. I couldn't see much, due to my short stature, but it was a good crowd, a little moshing which I don't participate in, but all around a great show. Sublime music has a little reggae feel, along with some good rock beats and solos that sing more than wail. They have a sax player, but it doesn't sound ska or brassy. All the best Sublime songs were played including "Wrong Way", "What I Got", "Santeria", "Summertime" and many others. Badfish is awesome, I definitely recommend anyone who can to get out to see a show if they come by."Tell me are you a badfish too? Are you a badfish too?Ain't got no money to spendI know the night will never endLord knows I'm weakWon't somebody get me off of this reef" "Badfish" ~ Sublime/BadfishCurrent Music: "Badfish" - Sublime |

dealgodown | **06:51 pm - Dead Head**I've been a Dead Head my whole life. My dad had me listening to Greatful Dead albums on the turntable since I was born. Oneo fmy earliest memories is of wearing one of those footsie nighties that zip up from the leg to the neck and dancing to "Fire On The Mountain" with the lights off in the living room. I must have been about three years old.I recently got my own copy of "Skeleton's From The Closet" so I can stop commandeering my dad's copy. I love listening to "St. Stephen" and "Uncle John's Band" one after the other over and over. "St. Steven" has one of the best openings I've ever heard. The swelling of the guitar as it rises softy to those first few notes builds a feeling within you and you know you're listening to The Grateful Dead at theor best. "Unce John's Band" is just such a feel-good-song and brings back memories of summer and hanging out with friends. "The Golden Road To Unlimited Devotion" is excellent as well, I love that dissonant ending. So many good oldies I'm convinced everyone should listen to the Greatful Dead. |

dealgodown | 09:26 pmHey, I'm SaraHere's a little story about me: I was driving home the other night, and I was playing a new Strangefolk cd in my car, and suddenly this song came on, and I felt like I was going to explode. The music was me, inside me, expanding. I suddenly was struck with a creative spirit and just started free-versing this poem that came to me out of the air, out of my head, out of teh music. I can't remember a word of it now, but as I was saying it aloud to myself it was the truest most sincere thing I ever remember having created. Music does that to me. It's a different state of mind.My favorie bands/performers are:Grateful DeadLed ZeppelinStrangefolkDave Matthews BandLiveEric ClaptonIncubusPhishTom PettyJ J CaleThe DoorsJimmi HendrixAnd I'm always looking for new music all the time |
