Being new to this community I suppose my first entry must be my love and inspiration, Giacomo Puccini. The genius behind Tosca, Turandot, La Boheme, Madame Butterfly, and La Rondine.

I love Louis-Antoine Saint-Just. I've loved him for more than three years now. (So I guess that means I can post here?) I love him so that I wrote an essay on him: on his misrepresentation in the recent BBC program Terror! Robespierre and the French Revolution, posted in two posts on revolution_fr, the French Revolution community of Livejournal.

I was inspired to write this essay by a post made here. I hope the person doesn't feel upset with this: I know she meant to harm by saying that Saint-Just is at least "pretty and pouty" -- God knows that I'm guilty of that, that I said it, that I swooned over Christopher Thompson and that I wrote that sort of description ad nauseam in my older fics. I'm not judging, but responding, completing this view so that we all better know who was/may have been Saint-Just, how he is represented nowadays (or even, since the Thermidorian Reaction) and why I believe that the Saint-Just played by George Maguire in Terror! Robespierre and the French Revolution is wrong, offensive and heinous.

( who could board MY ship anytime).

Captain Gustavus Conyngham, an Irish-born privateer/Continental Navy officer in the Rev War( he's not gorgeous by any means, but there is something about his expression that grabs me...besides I'm all about the Irish lads! )

Okay, so I'm pretty new on LJ, so I decided to do some exploring. During these explorations, I just so happened to stumble across this amazing community, and I simply couldn't believe my eyes! I just have to say that for the longest time I've had these crushes, and I always thought I was some sort of freak! So... I never told anyone. But, ta-da! It turns out I'm not alone!
So anyways, my two historic crushes are:

I don't know why... but I simply love these two! Is that weird??
Anyway, I'm rambling, I apologize, but I just wanted to say how happy I am to find this comm! =D

He was an Irishman ,said to have been the handsomest man in the Continental Army, and was known as the Irish beauty( like Hamilton, he was a ladies' man! I think we can all see why from this pic!

Im STILL trying to get over the fact that this community actually EXISTS!! LOL Just like so many of us, I thought I was the only one who got the shivers and flutters whenever I gazed at the founding fathers in books, in museums and documentaries, who thought that 200 year old historical figures were hotter than some of today's actors. Along with my history obsession( 18th c and Civil War) this became a good natured joke among my friends.. ya know "She's in love with some guy with a wig and short pants again", but to find people who actually find these men hot, that's just wonderful. I feel So @ home
LOL now that I do reenacting I've taken to see just how much the lads who reenact my fave historical figures( esp Hamilton) actually resemble "my boys"( The guy who portrayed Hamilton @ Trenton last year was passable.. a redhead anyway)

Here's some of "my lads"

1. Alexander Hamilton
simply put, the man was gorgeous.. AND was well aware of his charm to the ladies.. think it;s the combo of red hair.. violet eyes, and peaches and cream skin... I came across two lesser known pics of Hamilton, in which you can see that oh so intriguing half smile of his....

This pic just makes me weak in the knees.. he's got that half smile, simultaniously sweet and arrogant

This was painted around the time of Hamilton's wedding.. it looks like he's about to speak to us.

2. General Walter Stewart.
He was a Colonel in the 2nd/13th PA in the Rev War; a galant soldier who was wounded @ the Battle of Monmouth and who helped to quell the incipient mutiny of Washington's troops at Morristown in 1780,, AND he was an Irishman! ;)
What's more incredible is that this lad was known in his own time as "the most handsome man in the Continental army" and "The Irish Beauty"( historically documented). Like Hamilton, he had a way with the ladies..This is a portrait of him @ Yorktown.. he could "breech my fortifications" ANY day!!

3. Banastre Tarleton
Yes I'm an equal opportunity Rev War personage lover. Ban was dashing, rakish and needless to say, hot as blazes.. this pic comes courtesy of Oatmeal For The Foxhounds..a Banastre Tarleton ( thanks to Silverwhistle's wonderful site for helping me discover the hotness of Ban) home.golden.net/~marg/bansite/btfoxhounds.html..

4. Thomas Lynch, Jr,(1749-1779) South Carolina signer of the Declaration of Independence who was lost @ sea in 1779.. He's got that Keats aspect of tragedy about him
This is apparantly a copy of a portrait by John Trumbull.. he looks so aristocratic and gentle here...

ALL the South Carolina delegation was hot it seems like..( guess they make em hotter down south! lol)

My long standing crush on the brilliant and gorgeous composer Franz Liszt recently flared anew with the arrival of two books in my mailbox, Liszt's Kiss: A Novel by Suzanne Dunlap, and Marie d`Agoult: The Rebel Countess by Richard Bolster (a biography of Lizt's infamous mistress).

This got me wondering -- does anyone else have a crush on a Classical composer? Please share!

Summary: the trial of Anne Boleyn from Cranmer's POV.
Notes: This is oddly written, not in your usual prose. Sorry about that. And long spaces between dialogue is intentional.

I love a dandy. Like young Ben Disraeli here:

Composer of such operatic masterpieces as La Sonnambula, Norma and I Puritani, he wrote some of the most gorgeous melodies to be found anywhere and inspired other greats such as Chopin and Verdi. Tragically, he died not even two months shy of his 34th birthday; probably just as he was truly reaching his artistic maturity. Bellini has always intrigued me and his portraits show him to have been quite a striking man! *sigh*

So I was doing some research on the composer Johannes Brahms, and I found this picture of him when he was younger.

Why do guys have to grow beards? :/

King George looks so huggable to me. XD I just want to pinch his cheeks!
