Our research was designed to explore the effect of the pandemic on teaching and learning and identify the solutions to the problems based on participants’ perspectives. Methods: A qualitative study of the phenomenological design was conducted at a medical institute in Pakistan. The participants were selected using the purposive sampling technique. Semi-structured interviews were done which were later audio-recorded, transcribed, and subjected to manual thematic analysis. Credibility was ensured by using multiple data collection sources. Results: The 20 participants selected as interviewees were faculty with more than 5 years teaching experience in the medical institute and had gone through online teaching and learning during COVID-19 pandemic. The thematic analyses of the data generated six themes which were: 1. “I see what you mean”; Re-exploration of edu...

Materials and Methods: This was a retrospective longitudinal study conducted at Fauji Foundation Hospital, Rawalpindi from 10th June to 10th August 2020. Biochemical parameters i.e. CRP, serum ferritin, LDH, and pro-BNP as well as hematological parameters (MPV and P-LCR) were noted once every week during admission of all the COVID-19 positive patients.Data were analyzed using IBM-SPSS version 23. Repeated measure ANOVA using a generalized linear model was done to check the trend of values during the duration of their stay. Pearson Correlation analysis and regression models were estimated to check the relationship of MPV and P-LCR with C- reactive protein, serum Ferritin, LDH, and pro-BNP. P-values less than 0.05 were considered statistically significant. Results: The mean age of the studied group was 55....

In 85% of cases, CHS patients develop the accelerated phase characterized by pancytopenia, high fever, and lymphohistiocytic infiltration of liver, spleen, and lymph nodes. Treatment of accelerated-phase CHS is difficult and the prognosis is poor. Here, we report a case of CHS in a 2-year-old boy who presented in the accelerated phase of the disease. CHS diagnosis was made on the basis of clinical characteristics, hair analysis, and identification of pathognomonic giant azurophilic granules in peripheral blood and bone marrow.
