Areté (original) (raw)

Welcome to the MTSU Honors College Magazine: Areté

Since 1974, the University Honors College has proudly published its annual magazine, showcasing the outstanding achievements, research, and creative work of our Honors students, faculty, and alumni. Originally published twice a year, the magazine evolved over time to reflect the dynamic nature of our Honors community.

In 2017, the magazine adopted the name Areté, a powerful Greek term meaning excellence and virtue—values that continue to inspire our students and guide the mission of the Honors College.

A Rich History of Excellence

Over the decades, Areté has embraced several titles, reflecting its growth and the changing face of Honors education at MTSU. It debuted as Honors in Perspective, later became The Honors Alternative, then The Honors Edition, and The Honors Magazine before finally becoming what it is known as today. Each iteration represents a chapter in the story of our vibrant academic community.
