Heat general manager on potential Jimmy Butler extension: It will work itself out

“Anytime you’re making a transaction, how it affects your payroll, there’s going to be implications of what you’re doing within that,” he said, “because this is a system based upon what your overall payroll is. So you know when we did the trade for Terry Rozier, it put us in a position where our overall payroll was going to above the first apron. So as a team that’s going to be above the first apron, you’re not going to be able to do a sign and trade. And as a team above the first apron, you’re not going to be able to do a full, non-tax mid-level (exception). So those two transactions are not able to be done if your payroll is at a certain level. “So when we make the decisions we’re making on any trades at any point in time, if you’re trading for someone over a two- or three-year period on a contract, you’re looking at what is that going to do with the other choices you make over a two- to three-year period.”

“I think this organization’s meant a lot to me,” Lowry told Sixers Wire of the Heat. “I have admiration for these coaches, the players, the ownership group, Pat (Riley), Andy Elisburg, like I have admiration and love for those guys. Those guys gave me an opportunity to go to East Conference finals, go to a finals, get a house here, have my family settled. Like I said, I cheer for them except for when I’m playing against them.”
