_8:03 pm_[starting_0ver] | Moving from Phoenix, Az... The boyfriend and I are planning to move around September 1st. We were originally planning on Illinois, (to be close to my family in Plainfield), but its a bit pricey for us. We are now looking at Gary, Indiana. The main reason for the move is because of the weather. Neither of us can take another summer here. We are looking to rent a pet friendly HOUSE. Anyone know of any for rent? Doesn't matter the size of the house, just as long as they have a fenced yard.Is there a limit on the number of dogs you can have? We will be moving with 5. What is there to do in Gary, IN? Neither of us have been before and we know almost nothing about it. Any info would be greatIm sure I will have a bunch more questions as moving day gets closer. Thanks in advance. _2:58 pm_[mtvtruelife] | Are your views differ than your parents? Hi guys,My name is Jennifer, and I am a casting associate at MTV. Right now we are casting for an upcoming episode of the award-winning series True Life. For this episode, we are looking for people who are at odds with their parents for one reason or another. The topics we are focusing on are students who are living a more Americanized lifestyle their traditional parents don't understand, students who are practicing a religion that their parents don't support, or students who are dating someone their parents don’t approve of. We are also always interested in hearing other stories about what students and their parents don't see eye to eye on. I would really appreciate if you could pass it along to anyone else you may know.If you could have people email their situations to Parents@mtvnmix.com with their name, age, location, phone number, and recent photo of themselves I would really appreciate it.Thanks, and feel free to call me with any questionJenniferSince its initial episode in 1998, MTV's award-winning True Life documentary series has told remarkable real-life stories of young people and the unusual subcultures they inhabit. Whether documenting the lives of gay marriage activists, individuals dealing with obesity, or teens in high school--the True Life series tells its stories solely from the varied voices and points-of-view of its characters--putting the series in the unique position of reflecting the state of youth culture at any given moment. _9:06 am_[sakurazawa] | I'm headed (back) to Japan in about seven months and just realized in a panic that I don't want to be quite as lost as I was the first time around. I've started learning the written language. I've tried rosetta stone with no results. I think I need some hands- on Japanese lessons. I'm not expecting miracles in seven months, but I do want more than your standard "sumimasen" and "arigatou" this time around. My question is, does anyone know of anyone locally that offers foreign language language classes or help? Aside from the obvious answer of colleges, as I'm a clueless about that whole ordeal.Eta: Ohay, double posted. (1 Comment |Comment on this) |

_10:53 am_[tallguy] | "I would like, if I may, to take you on a strange journey" Happy Halloween to everyone! Hope you get lots of treats, and don't have to turn any tricks to get them :)I'm in a mood to go see Rocky Horror this weekend, but unfortunately there is nowhere in Central Indiana that is playing it. The closest theater is in Louisville, so that's where I'm headed. I'd be leaving Indy on Saturday around 9:30 or 10:00, the show starts at midnight (of course), and I would drive home afterward, so this will be an all-nighter. Anyone from Indy want to join me? I could use the company, especially on the drive home, and Rocky Horror is always more fun with a friend or two. (2 Comments |Comment on this) |

_9:24 pm_[tallguy] | Let's Do the Time Warp Again! This is a shout-out for all Rocky Horror fans in the Indianapolis area.On Friday, July 11, at MIDNIGHT (as if there was any other time), the Indianapolis Museum of Art will be showing the Rocky Horror Picture Show on the outdoor screen. The IMA's movie listing states "squirt guns welcome." I don't know what it says about other props, but I'll be brining my rice, Scott tissue, and flamethrower Bic just in case.If you've seen it a hundred times, why not make it a hundred and one? Too much is never enough. If you've never seen the movie with a live audience before, this is the time, this is the place,... this is the only movie theater in Indy showing Rocky Horror with a cash bar.If you've never seen the movie AT ALL, then what are you waiting for? You'll always remember your first time, especially when it's just so...BIG!Give yourself over to absolute pleasure...come see the Rocky Horror Picture Show.If anyone wants to have an RHPS-LJ meetup beforehand, post a comment, along with a time, place, and if you will be going in costume. I don't know if there is a audience-participation cast setup, but if enough people show up, I'm sure we can throw something together.Current Mood: mischievous (1 Comment |Comment on this) |

_5:28 pm_[genderpac] | The Gender Public Advocacy Coalition is pleased to announce the release of its 2008 GENIUS Survey in partnership with Ernst & Young. GenderPAC works to ensure that classrooms, communities and workplaces are safe for everyone to learn, grow and succeed. The Gender Equality National Index for Universities & Schools (GENIUS), GenderPAC’s most recent effort to end discrimination and promote awareness, encourages colleges and universities to recognize the benefits of a GenderSAFEtm campus - supportive equitable and protective for all students. Choosing to participate in GENUIS sends a strong public statement that bullying or discriminating based on the race, sex or gender of a student, faculty, or staff member is not tolerated at your institution Fill out the survey at: www.gpac.org/GENIUS2008survey, and make sure that we have data for as many schools as possible. Your voice will help us continue to work towards a safe and welcoming environment for every student. *While we greatly appreciate the interest taken in GENIUS by students, staff, and faculty at academic institutions outside of the United States, at this time GENIUS is only able to track schools based in the U.S. (Comment on this) |

_3:34 pm_[tallguy] | The Marines are landing in Indianapolis Marines bringing combat training to IndyU.S. Marine helicopters will be landing at Eastgate Mall, Brookside Park and other locations throughout the city as Indianapolis becomes a mock battlefield in an urban combat training exercise.About 2,300 Marines from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit -- based in Camp Lejuene, N.C. -- will be using various locations throughout the city for their Realistic Urban Training Exercise from June 4 to 19."Our aim in Indianapolis is to expose our Marines to realistic scenarios and stresses posed by operating in an actual urban community, thereby increasing their proficiency in built up areas," Col. Mark J. Desens, commander of the 26th MEU, wrote in a statement."While some of the activity will take place aboard Camp Atterbury, residents in many areas can expect to see helicopters flying overhead, military vehicles on the roads and Marines patrolling on foot," he said.Much of the training will be centered near Camp Atterbury and other locations in Indiana and Kentucky. Residents living closest to the training locations will be notified in advance of any "mock raids" or other exercises, Desens said.Landing sites include Eastgate Mall, Brookside Park, Ellenberger Park, Christian Park, Southeastway Park, Bush Stadium and Douglass Park.Source: Indianapolis Star_Well, I guess it's official. The east side of Indianapolis has been considered a war zone for years; it looks like they're finally going to treat it like one._ (Comment on this) |
