To this end 92 BA students of English Language and Literature and English Translation in the university of Sistan and Baluchestan were studied. 40 of the students were male and 52 of them were female. Participants’ EI was measured by means of a self-report questionnaire, in addition, their academic achievement was determined by their GPA. The relationship between the two variables was computed using Pearson’s correlation, additionally, multiple regression was used to find the contribution of different subscales of EI to students’ academic achievement. Results showed that there is a significant positive relationship between emotional intelligence and academic achievement among these students and emotionality was found to be the only subscale of EI significantly contributing to students’ academic achievement. By the way no difference was found between the EI of male and female participants.

Additionally, motivation and factors affecting it can be related to several other factors some of which still have not been subject to any empirical study. The purpose of the present study is to know how motivation and some motivation-related factors can be germane to burnout and engagement. The basis of the analysis is data collected from 95 language learners studying in language institutes in Iran. The analysis of data revealed that motivation and motivation-related factors are clearly linked to burnout and engagement.

The study was performed on 60 Iranian senior university students of English Translation. Data were collected by means of Oral Communication Strategies Inventory (Nakatani, 2006), a retired TOEFL test and a Grammaticality Judgment Test (DeKeyser, 2000). Multivariate analyses of variance showed that both implicit and explicit knowledge of grammar affect learners’ use of oral communication strategies. The findings of study are supposed to provide guidelines for learners, teachers and syllabus designers concerning the use and teaching of oral communication strategies, meanwhile findings also suggest that more attention shall be paid to the way learners acquire and process the grammar of the second language within their minds.

Given the claims on the possible interface of oral fluency and oral communication strategies, present study aimed at investigating the relationship between oral fluency and oral communication strategies. To this end 30 Iranian senior students of English Translation were given two oral production tasks and completed Oral Communication Strategies Inventory (Nakatani, 2006). Findings were indicative of no relationships between participants’ use of oral communication strategies and their oral fluency. Additionally further analysis revealed that none of the oral communication strategies could account for variations in language learners’ oral fluency scores. Findings can be suggestive of the fact that possibly there are other variables which have greater impacts on learners’ oral fluency, however, further studies shall be carried out so as to determine the validity of the present findings.
