Igor G Menezes | University of Hull (original) (raw)
I am an associate professor (senior lecturer) in OB/HRM and People Analytics in the Hull University Business School.
I carried out my first postdoctoral research in the Psychometrics Centre, Department of Psychology, University of Cambridge, from 2013 to 2014, working on the implementation of multidimensional item response theory into the Concerto platform. In 2016, I was appointed as a research associate in the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge to work on a project in partnership with BOSTES/NESA, Australia, to test new algorithms from machine learning and modern psychometric techniques in order to improve the standards of achievement in NSW schools.
Since 2005 I have worked as a lecturer, delivering modules on quantitative methods, psychometrics, research methods and organisational behaviour to undergraduate and postgraduate students. I have more than ten years of experience coordinating teams and laboratories as a researcher and principal investigator for several research grants and funded projects. As a research leader, I am motivated by my team’s growth and achievement of their professional and personal goals. Thus, I have supervised Master’s and PhD students and published papers with both undergraduate and graduate students regarding the development, adaptation and validation of instruments applied to different fields, such as psychology, organizational behaviour, healthcare, education, personality and accounting.
My research interests include, but are not limited to Item Response Theory and Multidimensional Item Response Theory, Multidimensional Computerised Adaptive Testing, Multilevel Modelling, Statistical Programming (R, Stata, SPSS, Mplus, Winsteps, IRTPRO, etc), Machine Learning and the application of quantitative methods into various fields. Although enthusiastic about a variety of research topics, matching modern techniques from machine learning and psychometrics in order to provide predictive solutions to businesses and individuals has motivated me to continuously hone existing skills while developing new ones.
By seeking to approximate academia and industry, I have developed projects with companies in the UK and Latin America aimed at the assessment of behaviours in the workplace and indicators that can ultimately improve organisational performance.
