We are born savage? | [21 Mar 2005|05:13pm] |
---|---|
I left my first entry a little vague, and I hope to clerify that now before anything gets out of hand. Humans are born savage, yes; however, this does not excuse the activities that a human might take that are savage. In society, it is our responsibility to learn to live with and control the beast within ourselves. Modern xtianity teaches us to deny the existance of the beast. This is foolery. To deny the existance of a rampant killer is to allow him free reign to kill. To deny the existance of a cancer is to watch yourself die from that cancer. Many people are bothered by the results that they face when going to church. It comes to the surface that some of the most horrible people are in fact the most religious. The reason for this is that they deny the existance of their beasts so much that they remain unchecked, and even when they act out, their existance is denied. The only way to truly act appropriately within our society is to acknowledge the existance of your beast, discover its character, and learn to live with and control it. Any other way will surely lead to destruction. This is the nature of the first entry and the reason for its direction. | |

Personal Responsibility | [21 Mar 2005|05:05pm] |
---|---|
Each person in our society is so quick to "pass the buck" when it comes to blame. Such widespread scapegoating cannot be allowed to be acceptible. Each individual must come to a point where they can accept complete and absolute responsibility for their own actions. As I hear coverage of this war in Iraq, everyone is talking about the trials that are going on with the soldiers there and how they were just following orders. We are talking about people who chose to be in the infantry, they were not drafted. The only reason one chooses to be in the infantry is if that person WANTS to shoot others. Secondly, their superiors may be their commanders; however, they do not control their minds. The soldiers chose to put themselves into an organization which kills. They chose to remain in that organization as it took imperialist actions and invaded another country, and they chose to pull the trigger after the order was given by their commanders. They are guilty, and they are responsible for that guilt. This is the principle of personal responsibility. Which enters into us another principle towards the path of purity: one must come to claim personal responsibility for their actions. | |
