So I am thinking about taking my first year of college off and attending the Joshua Institute. But I'm not exactly sure if that's what I am supposed to do. I have been praying constantly about it, but I just want to know if anyone has attended it and what they thought about their experience?

[ **mood** | curious ] For those of you that are truly "vets" of Hume Lake, meaning that you haven't been in quite a while, answer two questions: 1) How many years did you go to Hume Lake? 2) What was the last camp name that you attended? My answers: 1) 2 years, wish it would've been more! 2) Wagon Train

[ **mood** | cheerful ] I'm back from a week of counseling at Hume Lake. I was a counselor for 9 girls in a cabin called Alpine. It was much fun! Those girls were amazing and they showed me and taught me many things. I thanked the Lord for each and every one of them every day. I never knew that being a counselor would spiritually impact me as much as it did. One of my girls, Mia, became received Christ into her heart right before my eyes. It took my breath away. The other girls made various different committments. We prayed all week long and I continue to pray that these committments stay with them as they return to their normal lives.I am very appreciative to the Hume Staff. They do so much for the campers and counselors that goes unseen. I wish that I could hug them all at once and show them how much I love them all.I went on the high ropes course. I was last and let my girls go ahead of me. The lead guy on the high ropes course was shaking everything to make it harder for me. He also knocked me off the wire by shaking it so bad. It was pretty funny at the time. Later that week I took some water in a big bucket and took a cheap shot. I poured it over his head and he had no defense. I also went paint-balling with the 7th grade boys. Uhhhh...that really wasnt my thing. I felt like I was in a movie. I did happen to get shot in the head. It gave me a headache for awhile. I met some cool people at Hume. LOTS of cool people. It's sad that sometimes I only see some of them once a year. I met Josh from SLO...too bad there was only a nano-second to talk. I recognized this one guy from being a camper years before. Turns out he's from SLO and his name is Luis. Cool Guy.My friend Craig came up to visit his Church(grace in SLO). We hung out for a bit. Rachel and I took a drive with Craig up to Joshua Wildneress Institute and Wildwood to visit one of Rachel's friends. It was so beautiful and quiet up there.I felt encouraged the whole week by our youth pastor and the other counselors. It was such a challenge, but a challenge that I welcomed with open arms. There were nights that I stayed up untill 3am talking with the girls . It was hard getting them quiet at night but I managed.I also plan to work up at Hume Lake next summer onm the summer staff. I've only worked up therer for 3 weeks, that is not enough. I need to spend the whole summer there. I hope you all are going to have a fun time at Hume. I know I did.

[ **mood** | nervous ] Hey, guys. My name's Chelsea, I'm from Florida. I've never been to Hume Lake, but I've been accepted to the Joshua Wilderness Institute for the 04-05 year. I don't really know what to expect- from the people, the place (I've never even seen snow! The little weather thing on the webpage is terrifying me, lol), from anything, really. If you can give me any insight, or tips, or anything, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

[ **mood** | curious ] ok, random questions, hopefully I get a response from them: 1) Name one counselor that regardless of how many times you went, you remember him/her. 2) Did you ever really enjoy K.P. duty? my answers: There was one counselor my first year, and I remember his nickname being Spaz. He was CRAZY!! But he was a lot of fun. and No! I remember wanting to do K.P., thinking it looked like fun, and then really not enjoying it! It was impossible to ever sit down and eat!
