However, the rhythmic and melancholy tune of Bach told Leorio that it was actually an incoming caller. He had the phone in his hand before he had even decided to answer it. And there he saw the name:It must be fate, Leorio thought as he mentally prepared himself for the conversation.“Oi! Oi!” he began with his usually pleasant greeting. Then he gulped his last breath before Kurapika could detect the hesitation in his voice and launched into a story.“Kurapika?! I have news for you! I’m on my way to Lukusko. But before you get angry with me, I need to tell you that there is some suspicious activity going on in that region: an epidemic with the natives. “It didn’t seem bad or uncommon at first, but these reports indicate that something else is going on.” Leorio shuffled around in his luggage for the right papers.“There’s been more than just disease and poverty. There’s been disappearances and brutal attacks on villages by rebels! I thought this place was disserted, the way they described it, but it seems to be a typical country – savage no less – but settled with people and communities all the same. “Kurapika!” he reemphasized who he was speaking to. “What can you tell me about this region? Who are these rebels?”And with that, Leorio ran out of breath.

Because for all he knows, they're both very busy. Before he knew it, Killua asked him a question."Eh? Kaito-san?" He thought about it for a while. "I think it would be a good idea to have more people helping us. After all, whoever was there scared off Satotsu-san. I know he is strong, but this person may be stronger than all of us. I'll call Kaito-san, Kurapika, and Leorio now! ^^"With that, Gon went to the other room where his phone was and called up each of them in turn._Ring...ring...ring..._[[OOC: I figure that there'll be three seprate phone calls. His mind turns to Killua, wondering how will he ever keep something as big as this away from his best friend. However, it didn't last long because he heard the silent click of the key card being used from the door. Satotsu didn't seem to notice. 'If Killua overhears, then technically I'm keeping it confidential,' the boy rationalized.Gon listened to Satotsu-san's account, and at the word 'nen' he looks away. His mind already working on a plan to try to help."The Hunter Association is currently assembling a select group of Hunters, under my guidance, to return to the ruins in an attempt to learn more," Satotsu continued.His heart began to race. Was Satotsu-san here to ask Gon for his help? That thought quickly left his mind though because what Satotsu said next made his whole body freeze."Yet, even with the flow of information being so monitored, I have no doubt that a Hunter of Ging's status will easily be able to acquire said information."Satotsu-san stops speaking. "Eh? Ging?"His last sentence repeated itself over in Gon's mind. 'I have no doubt that a Hunter of Ging's status will easily be able to acquire said information.' Feelings of determination, excitement, and anxiousness ran through him as he tries to control his facial expression. The information that he had just heard is the most information he found of Ging's whereabouts since Kaito-san talked to him. Gon forms his words carefully, "You mean that Ging will be at the ruins? Or the ruins will lead to Ging?" Excitement steadily filled his questions. "Where is this Lokasu region, Satotsu-san? Is it far? How do we get there? Can Killua come too? Oh! If Killua is coming, we should call Kurapika and Leorio! I want them to meet Ging too!"He pauses, thinking over what had just happened. "Nee, Satotsu-san, what was the nen that drove you off? Couldn't you have fought that person?" Gon asked, admiring Satotsu-san's strength and at the same time wondering who else could be stronger. Leorio rapped his fist hard on the desk.“How many times do I actually have to take to the streets to find a patient!” His eyes ran wildly across the face of his supervisor, the director of the Peso Valley Hospital.She leaned back in her chair, pursed her firm red lips, and glanced away before answering him.“There’s not many sick. What did you expect from a small town? People are healthy. They lead simple lives. The weather is good.”“I expect to be able to help people!” His cry was met by silence. As calm as before, the director sat up and flipped through a few papers scattered across her desk. Leorio’s eyes flashed on the director’s movements. “And not to sit around filing paperwork!”“Yes,” the director acknowledged as idly as she read. “Those last four patients you brought in seemed real needy. Three hangovers and an overdose.”Leorio could detect the amusement in her tone, even before it curled her lips. He was ready to raise his voice against her, when an idea caught in his throat:“Maybe you should join a volunteer corp,” she said, and there was a gentle smile when she glanced up at him.Leorio clucked his tongue and looked away. His heart was beating rapidly, but his anger was dissipating.“There’s an opportunity in Lukuso. –An epidemic. Lot’s of people are getting sick. They’re calling it: ‘influenza,’ but of course that’s the name given by non-professionals.” The Director’s smile was overbearing as she lifted a flyer from her desk debris. “‘Volunteers Wanted: Medical, Humane, Administrative, Education Professionals.’ And look! I think there’s even an application attached with your name on it.”The director was pushing Leorio out of her office before he could even phrase a thought._Lukuso Region. He’d be going to Lukuso Region!_Leorio’s eyes lit up in a blaze of red. The paper in his hand crumbled, then his fingers relaxed and he carried the application willingly with him.
His cup of tea went cold and unnoticed.Kurapika stared in disbelief at the computer screen. He had only been searching for news on the whereabouts of the Scarlet Eyes. That he had stumbled across an article on some newly discovered ruins was not the surprise; it was the fact that these were the ruins of an ancient temple located in his homeland.Racking his brains, Kurapika could remember a story he had heard once about lost treasures. He and the other children, captivated, would pretend to look the hidden items, but as they grew, it remained a story and only a story. But it could be real after all, he mused. _Imagine what that would mean..._The Mafia would certainly get a kick out of it. He would persuade Nostrad to send him investigate matters, seeing as the man could not pass up the chance to rise up in the eyes of his underworld peers. As for Kurapika himself, this was an opportunity to study his heritage and history. And there was always the possibility of finding some more information regarding the Eyes.He scanned the article again. It was a very short paragraph, not even worthy of being called an article. The source was anonymous. The story could be complete fallacy for all he knew...there was only one way to check.Kurapika typed in the address for the Hunter's website. As the page loaded, he took a sip of tea, grimacing at the cold, bitter liquid. Quickly downing the rest, Kurapika swiped his License, and entered the Hunter's Cafe.He would have to ask the bartender.Click.
_Several months later . . ._Satotsu glanced down at his cell phone, verifying the address one last time. It hadn't taken him long to track down Gon's location, especially with all of the connections that he had formed over his years as a Hunter.Since he had first stumbled upon the ruins four months ago, their existence had only been made known to a select few - namely, the chairman and the other Hunters that had been chosen to join the second expedition team - but Satotsu had been around long enough to know that information leaks were nearly impossible to prevent even with the strictest security.There was little doubt that there were other organizations that would love to get their hands on the supposed treasures hidden within the ruins (though how to enter the immense temple in the center of the valley, no one had yet unraveled) and there were already rumours that certain prestigious Mafia families had already obtained the information from an undisclosed source. But as much harm might come from these leaks, Satotsu was also counting on them to bring the foremost experts of ruins and excavations to him – the elusive Ging Freeccs.Which had brought him to Ging's son. It had been over a year since he had seen Gon, but Satotsu could still remember his vibrant nature and the almost paternal affection he had felt for the boy. Beyond giving Gon what was hopefully a chance at meeting his father - assuming he hadn't met him already - he was genuinely curious about Gon's progress and found he was greatly looking forward to seeing him again.Placing his cell phone in his pocket, Satotsu entered the hotel and made his way across the polished marble floor toward the receptionist. The heat was oppressive even though the trees that towered above him prevented virtually all of the sunlight from reaching the forest floor. Taking a moment to wipe his brow on his sleeve, Satotsu gripped his machete and began his slow journey into the uncharted heart of this jungle, slicing neatly through the multitude of tangled vines which looked like long black serpents in the dim light.There was something unusual about this expedition, a strange feeling that he couldn't quite place, but one that he could practically feel vibrating in the thick air as he made his way through the dense vegetation. Excitement and curiosity, certainly, but those had accompanied him on virtually all his travels; it was why he had chosen this life. Rather, this is an entry meant to provide background for the plot and as such, any information contained in this thread is considered off-limits to characters. As such, I realize that there's a lot I don't know and I'm hoping to find someone who's had previous RP experience to act as co-moderator. Which I did. The co-moderator of this RP will be jamiefawkes.The most popular suggestion on the HxH RP poll was an original plot set outside the timeline where all the main characters are together. As such, that's what we're going to do. The question now becomes exactly what this storyline should be. Since the storyline is going to be the center of this RP, I want this to be a discussion between all the players. A thought I had was that we could start on Whale Island with Gon, Killua, Kurapica, Leorio, Mito, and anyone else who could reasonably be there and then introduce the plot once we know roughly where we're going.I realize that not everyone has seen/read the entire series, but just for information's sake (and so we don't spoiler/confuse other players), I'd like to know exactly how much everyone's seen/read. It might also determine whether we lean more toward the manga or the anime.I'd also like to decide on how we'll keep time within the RP.
