BAFTA nominated all of the things we’d expect them to, with a couple of surprises. Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande made the cut in Supporting Actress, joined by Jamie Lee Curtis wearing bad fake tan in The Last Showgirl. Daniel Craig was edged out (no pun intended) in Best Actor for his performance in Queer by another Brit: Hugh Grant, who played the bad guy in A24’s horror Heretic. If there’s anything we can gleam from this list, it’s that BAFTA voters are all over Emilia Pérez.

The Gaza Biennale was staged outside London’s ICA last night. A crowd gathered to view projected images of the work made by Palestinian artists, many of whom are still based in Gaza, making art in spite of the unendurable conditions there. The event was supported by groups like The White Pube and the Palestinian Youth Movement.

Mia McKenna-Bruce is leading the next Claire Denis movie. Yup, the BAFTA-winning icon who broke out in How to Have Sex is linking up with the French cinema legend behind Beau Travail for her next film, titled The Fence. It’s supposed to start shooting in Senegal this month.
