Hello my dears! I just wanted to plug a Beatles-related community of mine here, see if some of you might be interested.
(xposted, sorry!)
_Click on the picture to enter!_Nothing Is Real is a Beatles role play community! It partly deals with mature themes, which is why we are friends only, but you can of course join just to read the threads. We are open to gen, het and slash. AUs are accepted, but not original characters. The game is mostly centred around the Beatles but any character even loosely connected with the 60s or 70s art scene is welcome, really.
It's a 'no strings attached' sort of role play which basically means that you can apply for as many characters as you want, Beatles, Beatles wives or friends and there can be as many players as we want, even for the same characters. You can also choose your time and space span, build it up through several threads or jump from one thing to the other freely. It fact it isn't a well-built rp as much as a den, a place for you to meet other role players and start threads freely with the ones you like.
If you are interested in role playing in the Beatles universe, don't be scared to have a look around at the rules and introduction posts, an PM me if you have any questions! Role playing is pretty much like reading/writing fan-fiction, except that you do it with one or several other people, which is always good fun, unexpected and stimulating. Hoping to see you around!

So, for a while I've wanted to get my hands on a copy of I, Me, Mine. It's been surprisingly evasive. I've not been able to find it at any library, or any used bookstore. I'm thinking maybe the easiest way for me to finally read it would be for me to buy a copy. What I want to know is, is it worth it?
I mean, obviously I'll read it, and I'll most likely enjoy is quite a bit. What I want to know is, is it a good book? Excluding the fact that it's George Harrison, and that it's his autobiography, is it good? I know some books (many Paul McCartney and John Lennon biographies) are only good if you are really interested in the person. But other books (Scar Tissue by Anthony Kiedis) are great, even if you have no prior knowledge or interest in the person themselves. Which category does I, Me, Mine fall into?
( And, for you enjoyment, some Georgie:Collapse )

Ok, so this past Saturday I went shopping and found this bookstore that buys/sells/trade only in vinyl records, cds, cassettes, and books related to music. It was pretty groovy, I was able to pick up two Wings albums and a George album on vinyl all for under $20 (and in pretty good condition too I might add!). When I was checking out the book section I naturally was looking out for anything Beatles related and the only thing they had was this book Dark Horse : The Life and Art of George Harrison by Geoffrey Giuliano (which was a major bummer because they had every book imaginable on Jim Morrison it seemed).
I'd heard of this author before, but usually in that "don't read that guy" sense. So at first I was like "will. not. buy." BUT I started flipping through it and it had like over 20 pages worth of pictures, and come on -it's gorgeous Georgie so I just had to buy it! LOL!
So here I've scanned a couple of pages of pictures either because they were ones that I hadn't ever seen before and thought were interesting (though I'm sure ya'll have seen them before, but they were new to me) or because the captions under some of them were just ridiculously hilarious.
( The Always Sexy Mr. HarrisonCollapse )
If anyone can recommend me any good books about George please do so! :D Let's spread that Harrison love around!

Nothing will.
Like, c'mon.
It's George... he's a PIRATE...and it's Eric IDLE!
You know... Eric Idle? Monty Python?
C'mon people.
Discuss.

I thought it was worth a share.
This is part of the original interview Weird Al used for his "interview" with George.
That alone is pretty cool.
I particularly like the "we share the same wife".
I laughed WAY harder than I should have at that.

We all know George was great (if under appreciated) in The Beatles. What's you favourite solo work of his?
Mine is What is Life?
Keep in mind I haven't heard all his solo work :)
( Some fun George picsCollapse )
