Design/methodology/approach Unstructured interviews guided by the interview guide were conducted. The participants were selected via purposive sampling. A three-step process was carried out for data analysis. The first-order codes were generated from the views expressed by the informants. The descriptive codes (second-order categories) were developed, providing insights into the main factors. These codes helped to generate the third-order themes related to drivers and deterrents of SP. Findings The results reveal that interdepartmental cooperation is the most discussed driver, followed by government regulations. The most noted deterrents include a lack of interdepartmental cooperation, a lack of environmental laws and resistance to change. The participants have...

Many researchers in human resource management and organizational behavior rely on grounded theory to guide their work. They use it sometimes as a method and sometimes as a methodology. The disagreement between Glaser and Strauss, the theory’s originators, led to its unique application. There is some social sciences research that suggests using case studies and grounded theory at the same time. Theoretical work pertaining to the area of human resource management (HRM) and organizational behavior (OB) has yet to define how grounded theory may be utilized to develop a research methodology using an interpretive case study approach. The purpose of this article is to help HRM and OB researchers who are considering using grounded theory as a data analysis approach in integration with the case study method. It accomplishes this by first justifying the use of Strauss’ methodology in this integration and then enlisting indicators to assist researchers in determining how to carry out this integration.

We incorporated work to family enrichment as mediator and family role salience as moderator in conditional indirect effect paths. Primary data were collected through the survey questionnaire in dyads from the employees and their immediate supervisors (N = 401). The results showed that the main and conditional indirect effects of emotional and instrumental family related social supports from coworkers were positive and signifi cant on both ICBs (person and task focused). In comparison to instrumental support, the main effect of emotional support was more on person focused ICB. Whereas, in comparison to emotional support, the main effect of instrumental support was more on task focused ICB, as hypothesized. Work to family enrichment was found as mediator and family role salience as moderator in conditional indirect effect paths. This study establishes work family enrichment as a bridge in the social exchange process. The resources of emotional and instrumental family related support form coworkers' engendered work to family enrichment, which in turn created the sense of obligation in the employees to reciprocate by performing person and task focused interpersonal citizenship behavior in the workplace. Further the employees high on family role salience experienced work to family enrichment more, due to support resources, and in turn reciprocated more interpersonal citizenship behaviors. Overall, this study contributed by examining a moderated mediation model, by testing work to family enrichment as mediator and family role salience as the boundary condition in relationship between two specifi c types of social support (i.e., emotional and instrumental) and two specifi c types of interpersonal citizenship behavior (i.e., person and task focused).

Pakistan is among a few countries generating and receiving enormous e-waste, thus positing a threat to our future generations. A review of recent studies also suggested a dire need to explore e-waste awareness and its disposal practices to design policies for avoiding the most likely threat to human and environmental health. To this end, we explored consumer awareness of e-waste and noticeable factors hindering the disposal of laptops, personal computers, and mobiles. The study used the qualitative research approach and non-probability sampling. We collected data through four Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with students of a Pakistani university. After data saturation, we developed themes from FGDs and points jotted down in the self-memos. We found computer sciences and engineering students with better awareness than other students. The factors hindering e-waste disposal were lower m...

This dramatical increase in university enrolments seeded discussion regarding academic performance of students and factors affecting it become subject of interest for researchers around the globe. Developing around this discussion, this study aims to find teachers' perspective about students' motive to get a higher education degree and factors enhancing or impeding their academic performance. To this end, qualitative data were collected from faculty members of a public sector university by employing semi-structured interviewing technique. Collected data were analysed by using framework analysis technique. The findings revealed that career prospects are the main reasons behind enrolling in higher education degrees. Similarly, motivation, aims and learning approach they adopt to study affects their performance.

Quantitative data were collected from employees working in public sector health-care organizations of Pakistan through survey questionnaires ( N = 255). This study finds significant effects of distributive and procedural injustice in engendering the negative experiences of strain- and behaviour-based WIF, in the employees of health-care organizations. The moderating effect of co-worker and family support provided mixed results. The supervisory social support was not found as a moderator. Findings of this study suggest that health-care organizations should pay serious attention to the ineffective work family policies and procedure to develop a family-friendly work environment. The supervisors should be given a role i...

Further, we proposed that perceived career support moderated the relationship between career self-efficacy and work engagement. The data were collected in two waves from 303 adult employees who worked in manufacturing firms in Pakistan. The hypothesized model was tested using structural regression. The results suggest that career self-efficacy partially mediates the positive relationship between perceived career support and work engagement. Moreover, perceived career support moderated the relationship between career self-efficacy and work engagement.

There were 243 respondents of banking sector on which the analysis was based. Primary data were collected through the five point Likert type of survey questionnaire. The findings of this study showed co-workers’ support as the potential antecedent of work to family enrichment. The workplace resource of co-workers’ support engendered the positive experiences of work to family enrichment in the employees. Further, individualism/collectivism orientation was found as the significant moderator in the relationship between co-workers’ support and work to family enrichment. The relationship was stronger for employees high on individualistic/collectivist orientation, as compared to those who were low on such orientation. These results validate the prevale...

Drawing on signaling theory, the authors argue that using recruitment practices is generally more effective for creating employer image and organizational commitment. Design/methodology/approach The authors received a final sample of 213 from the employees of beverage industry. In doing so, statistical softwares SPSS (v.23) for data screening and SmartPLS (v.3.3.3) were used for hypothesis testing. Findings Using survey-based study, the study finds (1) that recruitment practices including job advertising and managers' recruiting behavior can be superior to developing employer image that positively can value the organizational commitment (2) The study identifies a significant role of...

It analyses primary data, collected from the various commercial banks, operating in Sindh, Pakistan (N=401). A five point Likert type of survey questionnaire was distributed to respondents. The study applies the structural equation modeling approach (SEM) for data analysis purpose. Mediation analysis has been conducted following the procedure of Preacher and Hayes (2004, 2008) and Rucker, Preacher, Tormala, & Petty (2011). Results show the significant main effect of work to family organizational support and the indirect effect, through work to family enrichment on employees' performance. Overall, this study establishes work to family enrichment as the missing link in the relationship between work to family organizational support and employees' performance. The study contributes theoretically by incorporating the role of...

Quantitative approach with surveys of 300 employees of academic institutions has been used in this study. SPSS software has been used to examine the relationship between variables and constructs. Findings reveal that organizational trust has a mediating effect on implicit change leadership and affective commitment to change. Moreover, a positive relationship was found between trust culture and change leadership and change leadership with a commitment to change. Furthermore, the results suggest that change leaders must take into account the trusting culture perspective of the organization to motivate the employees to make them accept change.
