FDA-Food and Drug Administration Article Summary: Encouraging and discouraging considerations re COVID-19 vaccination are explored and identified in vaccine hesitant parents. What's known on this subject: Most studies found that vaccine uptake is improved among well-to-do or highly educated parents. Severity of the disease and safety of the vaccination are the main factors influencing the decision. What this study adds: The dynamics of attitude change toward vaccination among VHPs may be affected by several different factors. Chief are children's preferences and individual health characteristics, side effects and speed of vaccine development .

In a between-subjects experiment ( N = 255), viewers had a more intense parasocial experience when the journalist addressed them directly rather than indirectly. Furthermore, viewers’ intense parasocial experiences contributed to their perceptions of source credibility, message credibility, and news enjoyment. Additionally, as predicted, a more vital parasocial experience indirectly affected credibility through enjoyment. The results concern journalist and news message credibility and the importance of audience engagement in the news is discussed.

We examined the considerations of a group of vaccine hesitant parents (VHPs) with respect to COVID-19 vaccinations for their children before, during and after the main vaccination campaign for the 12 to 15-year-old age group in Israel, over a six-month period. Methods: Digital surveys were administered to 1118 Israeli parents. After VHPs were identified, three surveys were conducted to evaluate considerations that discourage or encourage vaccination. A logistic regression was carried out on sixteen models; of these, six were found to be statistically significant. Results: 456 parents' data were analyzed. Parents' intentions to vaccinate prior to the vaccination campaign were a good predictor of their actual behavior, (rp=.497, p<.001). We divided the parents into four groups: consistently ...

To answer this question, the article proposes two unique theoretical concepts: “global newsworthiness” and “reversed domestication.” Global newsworthiness refers to news broadcasts that include ranges of countries, selected by several different reporting criteria. Reversed domestication refers to the connection made between the country of origin of the broadcasting media and the news content. Four television news networks were compared—CNN International, BBC World News, Al Jazeera English and France 24. The findings point to different levels of global newsworthiness and reversed domestication.

Further vaccination of 12-15-year-olds may be hindered by public perceptions of the necessity and safety of vaccination. Methods: we examined the considerations of vaccine hesitant parents (VHPs) regarding vaccination of children against COVID-19. The responses of 456 parents were surveyed and analyzed before FDA authorization of vaccination of children. Results: parents who were vaccinated against COVID-19 were more likely to intend to vaccinate their children (r=-0.466, p<0.01). Low accessibility of vaccination may be a dissuading factor for VHPs more inclined to vaccinate. Vaccine efficacy and gaining a "Green Pass" were positively associated with an intention to vaccinate and statistically significant. VHPs inclined not to vaccinate indicated short development time and possible long term effects as dissuadin...
