Meet my latest high protein snack – chocolate protein balls. While they are a bit higher in sugar than my birthday cake protein balls, they are still nutrition superstars and taste delish!

My boys and husband loved them, and here is why I think you will too:

Ingredients for Chocolate Protein Balls

Whey protein powder, almond flour, oat flour, peanut butter, almond milk, maple syrup, vanilla, salt, cacao powder, chocolate chips.

How to Make Chocolate Protein Balls

Step by step process how to make chocolate protein balls.

  1. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine oat flour, almond flour, protein powder, cacao powder and salt. Whisk well to get rid of any clumps.
  2. Combine wet ingredients: Now add in milk, maple syrup and vanilla, then mix with rubber spatula. Add peanut butter and mix a bit more. Dough will be thick.
  3. Add chocolate chips: Fold in chocolate chips.
  4. Flash freeze: Place dough in a freezer for 5 minutes to harden a bit, which makes it easier to roll.
  5. Roll the balls: Using small cookie scoop, or actually I found it easier to use a tablespoon with this recipe, scoop the mixture and roll into 20 equal-size balls.

How to Store

Store: Keep your protein balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. They taste best when chilled as they stay firm and chewy.

Freeze: These are perfect for meal prep! Freeze them in a single layer on a baking sheet before transferring to a freezer-safe bag. They will stay fresh for up to 3 months.

Thaw: You can eat them straight from the freezer for a firmer snack, or let them sit on the counter for about 10 minutes to soften.
