Research paper thumbnail of Job Connectedness Causing Poor-sleep and Work-family Conflicts in Professionals? The Moderating Role of Emotion Regulation: A Conceptual Framework

Journal of Management Research

However, outcomes are shown to vary between individuals. This work aims to establish the root cause behind individual variations by unearthing the foundational generative mechanisms that lead to the outcomes. The ontological and epistemological approach of critical realism is used to propose a novel conceptual framework that offers a three-way interaction effect between psychological control over work-life balance, emotion regulation strategies and job-connectedness outcomes. According to the framework positive emotion regulation generated by the appropriate use of savoring and dampening strategies elicits specific neurobiological processes that mitigate adverse outcomes of job-connectedness. This work theoretically extends Bandura’s agentic perspective of socio-cognitive theory and practically provides managers with ...

In this climate of pedagogical metamorphosis, the long-term cognitive impact of a 'cadaver less' curriculum in the assimilation of core knowledge among our future physicians and surgeons remains an issue of fervent debate. The authors propose the hypothesis that active cadaveric dissection directly enhances the 'long term learning outcomes' among students and is indispensible to the creation and retention of anatomy memory in the minds of learners. This retention of core concepts is not attainable through other instructional aids and might go a long way in framing the professional character of our medical community and the fate of our patients. To prove the same, this study provides objective evidence based on measurable data regarding the medical student's pedagogic preferences in anatomy education and their superior academic performance with the aid of dissection, thereby indicating the pivotal role of the cadaver in enhancing cognitive outcomes.

It is an oval or circular opening on the anterior surface of the mandible. The mental bundle exits through the mental foramen and supplies the soft tissues of the chin, lower lip, and gingivae. Recent advancements in orthognathic surgery have increased surgical procedures in the mental region. The exact location of the mental foramen is determinant of effective nerve block and prevention of post surgical neurovascular complications. Its modal position varies according to age and ethnicity, from sub-canine to sub-molar. Variations like multiple or absent foramina hold strategic importance in clinical dentistry and are best revealed by computerized tomography scans. This case reports an extremely rare and previously undescribed anatomic variation of bilateral absence of mental foramen along with literature review of relevance to peridontologists and maxillofacial surgeons. © IJAV. 20...

However, research on the role of emotional intelligence specifically in the domain of human resource management in healthcare organizations has been ignored. This chapter compiles a comprehensive, systematic review of literature on the impacts of emotional intelligence in the healthcare sector spanning a period from 1960 to 2020. The authors aim to explore and raise pertinent questions about the impacts of emotional intelligence on healthcare outcomes, job stress, emotional labor, and linkages of emotional intelligence with a competitive advantage for healthcare organizations. A major contribution of this work is the proposal of a novel conceptual framework for the marketing of emotional intelligence in the healthcare sector. Literature gaps, relationships among works, and current trends are discussed.

Some choose to admit it as "fake, irresponsible medicine" while others advocate its effectiveness in various clinical settings. With the advent of the recent concept of mind-body medicine, placebo has entered from fringe to mainstream therapeutics. Some clinicians use it for its actual positive outcomes while others use it merely to buy time until definitive diagnosis or even as a pacifier for patients. The present study was carried out to observe the perceptions about placebo therapy among health practitioners in Jazan region of Saudi Arabia Data was analyzed through statistical analysis of retrospective questionnaires addressing various issues on placebo therapy, including types of placebo used in various clinical settings, mechanism of placebo action, ethics of use and openness with patients etc. The study elucidated that the perceptions regarding placebo therapy are subjective and variab...
