Four working single mothers ranged in age from 40 to 67 were interviewed to gather in-depth information on the challenges and reasons. Their challenges include financial and time constraints; lack of knowledge and skills; social stigma; lack of childcare facilities and strict working hours. Despite the availability of assistance programmes, they did not participate, because of their negative experiences; and negative perceptions towards assistance-providing agencies. Interventions are recommended for relevant authorities and agencies to boost the images of the assistance-providing agencies; to increase the awareness and level of trust of the public on the assistance programmes providers.

Respondents were Malaysian students aged between 19-24 years. Results of the one-way analyses of variance showed that effeminate students were similar to females in terms of their perceptions of their body image, thinking, and gender characteristics. However, they were more androgynous than normal female students. Although effeminates reported the lowest level of self-esteem, contrary to prediction, they showed low psychological distress. The results are discussed with respect to their current situation as well as the general literature in this area.

Instead of contextualising the concept merely to the employment market, this paper attempts to present a framework which also emphasises the needs of society when describing the quality of desirable graduates. This paper then discusses an alternative concept of graduate quality, referred to as graduateness which entails comprehensive attributes of graduates.

A set of questionnaire was developed and distributed to a sample of participants who attended an EP. Based on the responses of the participants, the paper discusses among others, the different perceived competencies amongst participants.
