Ikkicon (original) (raw)
A friend of mine and some of her friends have planned to go to this. So, I thought I'd tag along. I'm not much for sticking in a pack when at a con, but I'll arrive and leave with one at all times, lol!
Any tips for what to expect? Keep away from at this time? Go check this out when I can?
Would love to here from ya'll about this and see ya there, ja? :P
I noticed not much has been done on here in a WHILE.
So I thought I'd update with some of the awesomeness that is going on!

Hotel reservations at the Hilton Austin for IKKiCON IV are now closed.
Don't have plans for this New Year's Eve? Don't worry! IKKiCON 4 is starting off with a bang!
Come party with us at the Hilton Austin from 6PM until way into the New Year! We're celebrating the new year in style, literally. We're showing off the fashion of Lip Service with the help of a number of local anime-loving models. We'll also have a dance performed by the Japanese Language and Culture Club of University of Texas. Want to go but worried that you can't find a babysitter? Don't worry! We'll have a limited time Kid's Corner, sponsored by Mad Science, for kids age 6 to 12 from 6PM to 9PM, as well. And when it's time for the New Year, we'll have fireworks displays on the big screens and bass bumpin' music for raving on the dance floor. Still not convinced? That's not all, but the rest you'll have to see to believe! Help up dance in the New Year - IKKiCON style!
Just found about this last week. There is another anime convention here in Austin. It's taking place this weekend. I may or may not go if anybody does go I wouldn't mind knowing if it's any good or not. Thanks
Yomicon is being held this year at the Spicewood Springs branch of the Austin Public Library.
This summer, join APL for it’s first ever anime and manga convention, Yomicon on Friday, June 12 from 6:00 p.m. to midnight at the Spicewood Springs Branch, 8637 Spicewood Springs Rd. We’ll have an Anime room with continuous showings, a Gaming Room, an Artist’s Alley with artwork by local teens on display, cool panels and activities and much more! Like to Cosplay? Come in costume and participate in the Costume Parade and learn tips from local cosplayers in special panels. Local comic book stores will be available with free stuff for everyone!!! We’ll also be putting together a gigantic temporary collection of manga and anime from around the system. There will be more to choose from to check out than ever before!
The convention dates for Ikkicon IV have changed this year. It will be held from January 1 through January 3 instead of the traditional first weekend in February.
When the convention leads approached the Hilton Austin, where the event will be held, they claimed to have penciled in the convention during the first weekend in February. As time neared and the convention leads called to confirm, they were told that the weekend was booked, as were the majority of the weekends in January and February, and we all know that SXSW gets priority in March. So they took the available weekend of January 1-3.
There will be no changing of the weekend as the official announcement has gone out. So let's show some spirit and attend the convention to show the Hilton that we won't be deterred.
