Tammi Walker is a Visiting Assistant Professor and an Illinois Distinguished Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Illinois College of Law. Tammi has a Ph.D in Psychology from the University of Virginia. Additionally, Tammi attended Columbia Law School and has more than four years of legal practice experience as a litigation attorney at law firms in Washington, D.C., and as a law clerk for United States District Court Judge Gerald Bruce Lee. As a psychologist, she uses empirical research methods, both qualitative and quantitative, to generate evidence that can be applied to real-world legal problems. Her work includes explorations of abuse between romantic partners, trajectories and outcomes associated with the legal regulation of adolescent sexual behavior, and disproportionate minority contact in the juvenile justice system. Her current scholarship seeks to provide empirical support for evidence-based decision-making by universities as they attempt to balance victims’ rights with the rights of the accused in sexual misconduct cases.
