I downloaded that King Adora song "Big Isn't Beautiful" because I thought it would be hilariously bad, but it turns out that I actually like it. Why? ;_;
I suppose I should just count my blessings and be glad I didn't know who they were between the ages of 14-16. They totally would have understood my INNER TORMENT, MAN. D:

Ok, I never had an inclination to like these songs at all, never mind love the shits... But I thought I'd just see what sort of reaction there was to these songs...
Loveshack by B52's
Little Birdhouse In Your Soul by They Might Be Giants
They're my two most hated songs of all time. I just wondered if anyone actually liked them.

Bad music Here is a list of particuarly bad bands I have liked over the span of many years:
*Fine Young Cannibals (everyone got excited about them and then it seems they disappeared)
*Deep Blue Something (another band everyone seemed to get excited about for a minute. I guess they took the money and ran)
*Travis (excitement for a moment. Then I realized every song after their initial hit sucked)
*Marilyn Manson (probably because I saw them play with NIN before they were famous. Marilyn was so weird and the audience wondered "who the heck is this guy" It wore off after a while, I think he should have retired after three years. I actually bought a "remix" cd of his songs. I was young! It was ten years ago!)
*Bush (why? why?)
I didn't understand the whole Korn phenomenon for about ten years. My best friend would make me sit thru their first cd, and make me listen to it over & over and explain each song to me. So a year ago I decided to give them a chance. "Hmm perhaps they arent'bad. Then I came to, and realized that almost every song sounds the same.
*Ocean Colour Scene- I think they put some kind of hypnotizing spell on me if I see their video. Afterwards I ask myself why do I like them? It was a sweet mystery of life that I solved by stopping listening to them
Don't even get me started on the 80's.
And oh yeah. Divinyls! Everyone's guilty secret!

I've just found this community, but it warms my heart to know that I'm not the only one with a shameful musical past. I still love the Manics, and I shall not be ashamed of that, but I would also like it on the record that I never cut anyone's name into my arm and I have not yet worn leopard-print in public.
My list of offenses, as far as I can remember:
* I loved Korn. Like, LOVED them. I owned the first four albums, the Jingle Balls CD, and Who Then Now? on VHS, and I wrote really terrible fan fiction about them. Thankfully, I grew out of them after Issues.
* I was similarly devoted to Limp Bizkit, though I was too embarrassed to pay money for any of their CDs because there was about a 50% chance that the local Record Store Asshole would be working when I went to make my purchase. Instead, I downloaded their music off Napster illegally and holed up in my room with my Bizkit MP3s and a healthy helping of shame. I knew they were terrible, but I couldn't stop liking them. A friend of mine gave me one of their t-shirts for Christmas and I wore it everywhere.
* I totally indentified with that Papa Roach song "Last Resort." DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND? I WAS SO TORTURED.
* I discovered Rage Against the Machine toward the end of my shitty-music phase and thought they were brilliant. To this day, I wish that I had a time machine so that I could go back to when I was fourteen and kick my own ass.
* Slipknot. There's not much I can say about Slipknot except that I'm from Iowa and felt some sort of duty to support the home team. I bought Iowa and could never bring myself to listen past the first two songs. I spent $25 going to a seven-hour festival to see them live. My mom dragged me out after two songs under the pretense of "beating the traffic." It turned out she was right all along.
* Orgy. Man oh man. Not only do I still own Candyass, I stayed with them long enough to get the second album, whose name I have long since forgotten. I thought the "Blue Monday" cover was the coolest thing ever, and "Stitches" was one of my favorite songs. I found loads of copies of Circus magazine with them on the cover when I was cleaning my room the other day, and I died a little on the inside.
This is how I spent my childhood. I know there's more, but I seem to have blocked them out. Fire away. :-)
ETA: I just remembered my Marilyn Manson obsession. How could I forget? I owned the first five albums and the Last Tour on Earth video/CD set and I thought he was the coolest guy ever for being an honorary reverend in the Church of Satan. The "Coma White" video was, like, sooo artistic. ;_;

ORGY
All I can recall is...
That awful cover of "Blue Monday". The lame music video for it. The trashy cyber gear. The 10 pounds of hair wax that took residence on their heads. The guitarist named Amir Derakh. Get it "I'm here to rock". Hur Hur. What a creep.
I remember girls swooning over them like the Beatles hitting the states. It was quite gross.

more bands - i kind of still like but am no longer obsessed with placebo -
i saw them in the LA2 and the astoria but when they did the same gig for the same first album at the brixton academy i decided that on balance the squealing girls to brian molko ratio wasnt worth the cost and effort.
that first LA2 gig i went to though...
*whoar*
last seen at a german summer festival, headlining.
i still had to run down the front and jump up and down lots!
....i think i saw Ash in the Virgin Megastore once too.
mind you, its before the got the GIRL.
she changed everything.

For the last two days people have been trying to convince me not to buy the moffats: submodalities cd and not to get a mohawk i'm in a very awkward stage of my life.
thats more of a i love them now why? so my i loved them is that i have afi cds and i can't throw them out because for some reason I don't get rid of my cds ever. oh and i went to a meatloaf concert, but um i still listen to him occasionally. so, yeah. *hits self in head*

My name is Amelia. Just joined today (waves).
I am a shit band-aholic. I've been sober for about 2 hours now.
My previous likes include but aren't limited to;
Bush
RHCP
Sublime
Ours
Machines of Loving Grace
Electric Hellfire Club
My life with the thrill kill cult
Veruca Salt
That omission really hurt my feelings.

do we start with introductional confessions? hi, i'm marge and i have liked some truly cringeworthy bands in the past.
i once bought a ticket to see kula shaker at the brixton academy, but by the day of the gig i was so no longer keen to go i only finally got there about half past nine as i'd paid 15 quid for a ticket and found that the touts were trying to give tickets away free outside because they couldnt shift them.
i tried to sell the cd on e-bay and sold it for 99p to someone in canada and after accidentally not putting insurance on the post i had to give him a complete refund and thus ended up spending another fiver getting rid of the album.
i saw shed seven at the forum. it was pants, i sat at the back on the stairs and tried not to fall asleep. again, i'd paid silly money for a ticket. my boyfriend later refused to let them into a clubnight in york because they were wankers.
i bought the first two korn albums and three marilyn manson albums in a moment of insanity and boredom where i accidentally started reading kerrang regularly. i also saw type o negative at the astoria.
i saw a band called engine alley three times in one week after accidentally ending up at their gig at ULU thinking I was going to see CNN
my first ever live gig was Europe, when i was 12.
i bought the album that was recorded by "presence" the really shit band that lol tolhurst formed after being thrown out of the cure. and then i bought it again because the US version had a different cover and i didnt realise the songs were all the same inside.
i think i once bought a soupdragons album.
i bought the first two oasis albums, after theyd become annoyingly famous. then i realised they were complete wankers.
admittedly, most of the other cringeworthy and embarrasing music i bought in the past, i still like.
unlike my other half though, i don't own any vixen picture discs.

what a brilliant community. I actually still kind of like Easyworld. This Is Where I Stand is awesome.
But there is no excuse for the fact that when I was fourteen I had a picture of Maxi Browne in my wallet.

I own approx 1 million terrible CDs that I will never listen to, from stuff I liked when I was a dirty goffick metaller teenager - let's list some examples, shall we?
* *TWO* Papa Roach albums - gosh, man, i'm just SO ANGRY ALL THE TIME.
* several KoRn albums - as above.
* King Adora's debut album - rescued from a bargin bin for four quid, and not even worth that.
* a whole host of dodgy Essex metalcore albums - Stoopi, Latch, whatthefuck?
* loads of singles by bands that existed only to play the Barfly once a month - Schindler, DNA Doll, Mogul, Beatmolls - Sean Organ spent years putting these records out, the bastard.
Why can't I throw any of them away? Just why AM i so attached to them?
