The unit of evolution is taken from psychological personal construct theory. Methodologically, a successful integration of these areas requires a transfer of complexity and non-linear methods and development of further measurement methods in the complexity area.

Indeed, formal plans or cost controls are often only provided on an irregular basis and planning instruments are usually only used by a small number of individuals and developed rather intuitively (Brinkmann, 2002).

Social evolution is a dialectic process that is the outcome of the interplay of competitive processes over scarce resources on the one hand and the characteristics of human thinking and creativity on the other hand.

Rather it is an insightful development and discussion of a vision and the beginnings of its implementation. A vision of how Artificial Intelligence and the Internet may evolve to become the electronic brain of human society, what this requires in technical terms and how it might ultimately be realised. This vision is quite well summarised by the term" wild computing" which refers to populations of agents that live and interact on the Internet, forming a large computer.

This is used to illustrate some shortcomings of an evolutionary theory of economics. The paper starts by analyzing the debate between Alchian, Penrose and Friedman on the role of evolutionary concepts in economics. This debate triggered Winter's work on the issue. Afterwards, the evolution of Winter's and Nelson arguments is presented.

The case of Alchian's (1950) paper on'Uncertainty and Evolution'and the ensuing debate is used to illustrate how actors' perception influenced developments in economics science. The evolutionary character of such a conception is discussed.

It can be argued that the control of particular pollutants and the adoption of eco-efficiency options within existing production modes will not be enough for achieving environmental sustainability.

Specifically, we address the question of why SMEs seem to plan less than big companies, whether strategic planning and corporate success correlate with each other and whether strategic planning is a function of increasing company size.

The main aim is the integration of (largely human) ethological research, that is research into the patterns, mechanisms, causes and effects of human behavior into the social and especially economic sciences.'Economic sciences' is understood in a broad sense: it refers to economics proper and the areas of business and organization sciences.

The main problems for evolutionary modeling, differentiation and structural change, possible approaches to these problems as well as hindrances to successful modeling are discussed. It is found that concepts of change processes need to be delimited more clearly, and combinatory emergence should be given more attention.

I put particular emphasis on the psychological processes ofinternal'selection in an aspiring entrepreneur. The project deals with development and commercialisation of innovative DNA-Biochips. These can be used to detect gene-based health conditions and in drug discovery.
