About IBM Corporate Service Corps Program
The Corporate Service Corps was launched in 2008 to help provide IBMers with high quality leadership development while delivering high quality problem solving for communities and organizations in emerging markets. The program involves competitive selection of high performing employees and empowering them as global citizens by sending them in groups of 10 to 12 people from different countries with a range of skills to an emerging market for four week community-based assignments. During the assignment, participants perform community-driven economic development projects working at the intersection of business, technology, and society.
My experience as part of the IBM Corporate Service Corps Vietnam 10 Team
As part of the CSC Vietnam 10 project, I along with my partner was assigned to work with a coffee production and trading company that had requested assistance in improving and developing its distribution channels and in building a sustainable brand name for its products.
We worked with the client over a period of four weeks with the help of translators. We successfully closed the project by:
- Data gathering – Interviews with coffee shops, client and its staff, workshops and discussions
- Data analysis and Strategy Formulation
- Building recommendations on:
a. Online marketing
b. Better brand management
c. Setting up effective distribution channels
d. Product differentiation - Skill transfer to client on how to build a marketing plan
