Thus, modeler-author communication is of prime importance in the performance of a system. Intertextual Semantics (IS) is a semantic framework for structured-document,

But this condition will not be enough to face the challenges that the new financial panorama will bring on the banking arena. Among them, challenges related to the corporate social responsibility (CSR) sphere will play a special role. In Canada, the financial regulatory framework forces some federal institutions to publish information on social responsibility. Although FSCs are not forced to disclose information they need to provide CSR information to show their role as an institution capable of innovating in sustainable matters. This work analyses public communications of Canadian FSCs to determine the degree of inclusion of CSR information requested from financial institutions. Results show that the CSR Canadian legal framework has a reduced impact on FSCs communication practices, although with sig...

The goal was to develop a modeling framework which would (1) facilitate the communication of the "semantic intentions of the modeler" to (human) authors of valid XML documents; and (2) encourage modelers to develop models amenable to plain understanding and interpretation by authors and other readers of the documents. A brief sketch of the framework, called intertextual semantics, was given, and its potential benefits and drawbacks were discussed theoretically. Application of the framework was limited to a few simple examples. In particular, attributes were not addressed directly, nor the possibility of optional "containers" (elements or attributes). In the present article, we consider how these two features of XML can be handled in intertextual semantics. We also sta...

This analogy will rule out the overestimated value of usability testing that rely solely on tests to establish a correspondence between what the interface does and that it is supposed to do, and that without recourse to a “theory” other than the experience or mimetism of previous good examples. The use of predefined and semantically grounded linguistic semiotic systems will be defended to support theoretically test practice. We briefly present some illustrations via intertextual semantics (Marcoux 2006, Marcoux-Rizkallah 2009) and are argue that the use of the latter for interface design will clarify the ideation phase and avoid frequent cases of “misleading” interfaces.

Yet the role of designers in this field of activity is often overlooked by the dominant scientific and technological interests in data visualization, and a corporate culture reliant on off-the-shelf visualization tools. This allows not only for the sharing of original texts for analysis, but alsofor the application of different analytical approaches and viewpoints. Many sociological and judicial considerations may explain why researchers resist giving access to their materials, but the concrete problem of modeling the textual data so that it can be annotated and shared is also a reason. We propose a framework for the development of data and referential metadata capable of supporting a researcher in the process of construction and deconstruction of a corpus. The model uses the Dublin Core and RDF for the metadata. As for the textual data, we are relying on the TEI model for the primary documents and their annotations, and on teiCorpus for the corpora made of documents already present in the referential. A new edition of the minutes of the Comité d'Instruction Publique, during the French Revolution, will serve as an example.
