Behçet&am... more Behçet's disease (BD) is a rare, chronic, multisystemic disease of unknown cause. BD is characterized by mucocutaneous, ocular, vascular and central nervous system manifestations and is also associated with thrombogenicity. In this retrospective analysis we investigated the relation between gestation and BD. This retrospective study consisted of 49 pregnancies in 24 patients with BD between January 2008 and June 2013. The following clinical and demographic data were obtained: maternal age, obstetric history, pregnancy outcome, and maternal and neonatal complications during pregnancy following diagnosis of BD. To avoid recall bias, the following data were collected only in the recent pregnancy of each patient: disease activity and use of medications during pregnancy. Sixty-three pregnancies occurred in this group and 52 of them were after the diagnosis. Mean age of the patients at diagnosis was 21.4 years. The duration of BD during pregnancy was 7.2 years. Fourteen patients (58.3%) had no symptoms during recent pregnancy. No change was observed in the disease activity during pregnancy in eight patients. Disease activity was aggravated in two patients. The rate of vascular complications was higher in pregnancies of patients with BD. The rates of stillbirth, pre-eclampsia, preterm delivery and intrauterine growth restriction did not differ between the groups. Perinatal mortality and neonatal intensive care unit admissions as well as low birthweight infants were also similar between groups. Patients with BD had a higher rate of vascular complications during pregnancy; however, other obstetric complications were not increased and neonatal outcomes were not negatively influenced by BD.

Materials and method: Cases were examined in 3 groups as asymptomatic, mild symptomatic and severe disease according to symptoms and oxygen saturation. High levels of CRP, ferritin, D-dimer and lymphopenia in blood tests were considered as poor prognostic factors. Results: Of 678 pregnant women with COVİD-19 , 118 (17.4%) were in the first trimester, 261 (38.5%) were in the second trimester and 299 (44.1%) were in the third trimester. A total of 257 (37.9%) COVID-19 (+) pregnant women were hospitalized and 120 of them were due to COVID-19 infection without any obstetric indication. Severe disease was detected in 57 (8.4%) of the cases; 29 of them (50.9%) were in the 2nd trimester and 26 (45.6%) were in the 3rd trimester. The incidence of severe disease was statistically significant...

MATERIAL AND METHOD: In this retrospective study, patients who underwent conization due to cervical intraepithelial neoplasia were analyzed. Inclusion criteria were cervical intraepithelial neoplasia in the conization specimen with negative surgical margins and at least 12 months follow-up period at our clinical database. Demographic, clinical, pathological data, and preoperative complete blood count findings of the patients were extracted from medical files. RESULTS: There were a total of 115 patients divided into two groups: the recurrence group (n = 30) and the control group (n =85). There were no statistically significant differences between the two groups in terms of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia pathology grades. There was statistically increased number of postconization endocervical positive results in the recurrence group. In the recurrence group, the mean of recurrence free survival was 10.5 months. There were no statistically significant differences in the preoperative neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio and in other hematologic parameters between the groups. In logistic regression analysis, only postconization endocervical curettage positivity was predictive in estimating recurrence (p=0.002, %95 CI 0.084-0.365). CONCLUSION: Preoperative neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio and other inflammatory markers were not predictive of recurrence after conization in women with negative surgical margins. Positive postconization endocervical curettage was the only prognostic factor associated with recurrence after excisional therapy.

This study aimed to determine the effects of water immersion during the first stage of labor on the systemic inflammatory indices in the postpartum period. Materials and methods In this retrospective study, 125 healthy multiparous women with uncomplicated pregnancies between 37 and 41 weeks of gestation who elected for immersion in water during the first stage of labor were compared with multiparous uncomplicated term women who had conventional vaginal births on land (n=125). Age, parity, body mass index (BMI), gestational age, duration of labor, birth weight, Apgar scores, neonatal intensive care unit admissions, and ante- and postpartum whole blood parameters were noted. Antepartum and postpartum neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and mean platelet volu...
