The paper addresses the issue of associating a concept of Smart Grid with a powerful main electri... more The paper addresses the issue of associating a concept of Smart Grid with a powerful main electric drive of plate mill rolling stand. This paper will review all theoretical capabilities of reactive power compensation in the supply mains by the main electric drive and present the resulting benefits to be gained in our understanding of the Smart Grid. Typical features of power electric equipment of the main electric drive allow us development of the control of the reactive power consumption or generation. The reactive power consumption or generation can be carried out by using of back to back converters which connect the electric drive with supply mains. Experiments in the plate mill were performed at the difficult-to-form steel grade in the range of roughing and finish rolling. It was found out that the reactive power generation can be used in the range of the roughing. SUBSTANCE: method of controlling an active bi-directional frequency converter in the automatic control system of an active voltage rectifier allows to regulate the reactive current depending on the level of reactive power in the supply network. EFFECT: increasing the power factor, reducing electrical losses and stabilizing the voltage in the supply network. 1 dwg

Проанализированы спектры тока в 6-, 12- и 18-пульсных схемах подключения трёхфазных трёхуровневых... more Проанализированы спектры тока в 6-, 12- и 18-пульсных схемах подключения трёхфазных трёхуровневых активных выпрямителей напряжения (АВН) с предварительно запрограммированной широтно-импульсной модуляцией (ПЗШИМ) при удалении выделенных гармоник. Представлены значения суммарного коэффициента гармонических составляющих тока в рассматриваемых схемах подключения АВН с ПЗШИМ на частотах 150 – 350 Гц с удалением только наиболее значимых гармоник при одинаковой потребляемой мощности и параметрах питающей сети. Результаты сравнительного анализа могут быть использованы для проектирования или поиска проблем обеспечения электромагнитной совместимости мощных АВН с питающей сетью в многопульсных схемах
The paper proposes a switching pattern transition algorithm for a three-level converter using pul... more The paper proposes a switching pattern transition algorithm for a three-level converter using pulse-width modulation for selective harmonic elimination. The algorithm enables the user to select the required switching pattern depending on the output voltage frequency of the converter. The paper solves the problem of enabling a transition between switching patterns while limited to a single switching of the semiconductor converter modules. It details the flowchart of the algorithm. The paper further presents the simulation results that prove the algorithm functional and show the generation of variable-frequency voltage by the three-level converter coupled with transition between switching patterns without any current inrush or fluctuations during such transitions. The implemented algorithm can be easily adapted to the transition problems associated with other pulse-width modulation methods.
